Actually, Marines are the way to go. Unless of course you like playing an enchanter in EQ, then Covert Ops is a good choice.

What good is hacking? Very little. Sure, you might hack into a container to find a little bit of creds or ammo, but really, what use is it?

Security Cameras? Pull out a gun and shoot them. One shot, one kill... with a pistol. They arent used for anything else useful.
Security Turrets? Considering you just blasted your way through multiple waves of the Many just to get to this point, I seriously, SERIOUSLY, doubt a single monster respawn will warrant spending the nanos to hack into a security terminal to get close enough to the turret to finally hack it. Worried that you'll run into a camera that will trigger an alarm that will send a horde of undead minions to kill you, without a turret as backup? You must have missed the above tip for getting rid of cameras. Plus, Covert Ops can reduce the time to wait until the alarm stands down.
Security terminals? See the above two. Dont even bother with these.
Replicators? Please. Covert Ops can replicate any and all ammo easily.
Containers? See above. If you are really starving for nanites for ammo, kill a few enemies with the wrench or other melee weapon.
Final Boss? NOW we are getting somewhere! Oops, no we arent. Even though she needs an EXTREMELY high hacking skill to defeat, if you save up all your ICEpicks in the game, you'll easily defeat her without laying a single hand on hacking.

Like Cadga said, weaponry r0xx0rz j00!

There's still one branch open. At least that's what PCGamer tells me.

System shock 2 is good, very very good, and you can get it for like, 15 bucks now. Sad how most good games end up in bargain bins...stupid deer hunting games outselling them... ¬¬

Not exactly. The truth is, 99% of Looking Glass went over at Ion Storm-Austin. There, Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3.

Gameplay and replayibility? Yes. On pure scare factor? NO. Bud, I refused to play SS2 for an entire three months without cheating for fear of the setting. This, and Aliens Vs Predator (human missions only) are the single scariest games to me. Not counting Teletubbies of course.

Yeah, suggestion, DO NOT play AvP with a wireless mouse on human missions...you may tend to shake alot, and jump...thus rendering your aiming useless =)

Exactly.

I played SS2 for a long while, never beat it though (Gork kinda lets me borrow it idenfinately when I ask).

Yesm SS2 rules.
No other game was giving me the creeps like SS2 did.
And for the profession discussion, I think that the covert ops expert is the hardest tp play with, most of the psi powers are cool, but kinda useless and its kinda hard to switch from a non offensive psi power to a offensive one when crap goes wrong, thats why I was using the assault rifle to finish SHODAN!

Oh...I know that the best RPG villain discussion is already over, but SHODAN is definately one of them!! =)
