They're all myths I'm afraid.
I'm basing this conclusion on two facts:
1) You can more or less tell what's in a zone by examining the textures in the zone files
2) Verant just isn't cool enough to do stuff like that.

Actually they could sneak something by us.... they can stretch textures to different sizs, they have already shown that. Plus they hid an entire city from us.... you know.. the one at the bottom of CC. Or atleast attempted.....
No they havent done it yet... but that can...

Does it truly exist? Or is it merely myth? Some claim to have seen it, others claim it's a rumor spread to keep people playing.

Megaladon, however, I've got no doubt is a fake. It could be easily hidden in texture files, it IS, after all, supposed to be a giant shark. However, even if it was at the bottom of the Ocean of Tears, just by the pure size of it, it would have been spotted. It would have been on some Ranger who was looking for his corpse after being killed in the water's track. It would have glided past some guy who could have gotten off a screenshot or seven. It would eventually have some part of it poke above the water. It would have been known, for sure, by now wether it existed. If it did.
So, Megaladon probably dosen't exist.
Then again, they could just make a HUGE shark, and call it that anytime they wanted to.
