Im wondering and as usual not clueing in.

I have read on numberous sites as well as the Ranger Glade forum that higher level Rangers seem to have a hankering for these 55hp/55 mana, 65hp/65mana rings. Why?

I would have thought that a ring that gives you a boost to your main stats (ya'know str/dex ect)would be more effective than the rings that add to hp or mana. Someone care to enlighten me?

Aye, I have a jagged band and a 6dex/agil ring. Was thinking of upgrading my jagged band, thats what got me started on this

Upper end rangers are maxed on stats usually or are at least happy with where their stats are. Same with pure casters. I'd *KILL* to get some HP/Mana gear so I can read out some of my extra Int (I'm sitting on a 214)

Once you hit the higher levels, a lot of your general equipment and buffs will keep your stats well beyond the acceptable range.

However, high level rangers suffer from one thing:

Low HP compared to warriors, sks, and pallies.

So anything that can pump up those hit points is very much wanted. And if it can give them more mana, too, it's even more desireable.

Does that clear it up a bit for ya?

Because most melee stats are worthless once you get them to 100. Sure agi boosts provide minimal ac increases but dex doesnt do a thing for you post 100. Once you hit 100 stamina you have no ill effects of being out of stamina.

Pure ac and hp on the otherhand are the life blood of rangers and many other classes.

And it isnt just rangers that want 6ac/65hp (velium fire wedding rings) rings, heck my shaman has them on both his fingers

I remember a while back the dev team commented on the fact that they wish they had made stats in EQ matter more, but the fact is they really dont mean much.

It's true. Melee stats are very nearly meaningless. Tremendous amounts of strength will help your average damage, but not a whole hell of a lot. Dex helps crits, but not a whole hell of a lot.

HP and mana help keep you alive. Not a whole hell of a lot, but a hell of a lot more than any amount of strength or dex will.
