Anyways, it's Giant Robo It is the anime version of Giant Robot, or as it was known here... "Jonny Socko and his Flying Robot". Except this one is decidedly more buffed up. 9 Episodes, 45 min long... personally I enjoyed it.

Actually, it's 7 Episodes. (I have it on tape and import DVD. Trust Me On This.)

And the series does, indeed, rock out completely and totally.

Incidentally, while it looks very pretty, avoid the X/1999 movie. It suffers from what some people call 'Akira Syndrome': stuffing the equivalent of four years of collected once-a-week 8-pages of story into a two hour movie, with the result that the story gets really, really disjointed.
