For every 1 decent person that signs up, we get at least 10 "IQ is less than three and can't type to save their worthless lives" n00bs. To be honest, they are starting to really annoy me. The board has become a much more chaotic place, as I'm sure everyone here as seen, with thoughtless (and grammerless) posts popping up all over the place. Have you noticed the old sk00l's posting less and less? I've been discussing this with many of them, and they seem to like the idea.
You could always open it up again later. It's your board, so ultimately your choice.

Now with regards to the bad grammar thing...I think its just a gimmick really, i doubt they are really that bad IRL. Im sure if they realize it is genuinely making people mad, they will stop doing it.

Hypothetical situation. Let's say Drys liked this idea and closed down registration, only not today, but four or so months ago. Who would be lost?
Deli, Lokist, Gerard, Parcelan, Synjari, Danny Gow, Pvednes, Theora, Red and Black mage, and dozens of other people whose company we all enjoy. In suggesting we block off the rest of existence now, you're suggesting that these people were the last worthwhile conversationalists in the ENTIRE WORLD. I somehow doubt that's even remotely true.
Old schoolers posting less? Yeah, that tends to happen. That's why old schoolers are rare. Look through one of the uber-rezzed threads. How many posts on the first page or so are by people who are still here? Very, very few. If any.
Communities move on. People leave, bit by bit, and people show up, bit by bit. That's just the way of the universe. Rather than be bitter at the leaving of your old friends, be glad at the arrival of new ones and proud of your standing as one of the oldest members on the boards.
