I'll be travelling to London from Chicago next month, and have not kept up to date on the best way to make calls back home without being financially-accosted with tremendous fees.

Does anybody here know a good solution for making phone calls back to the states?

I was looking at Jajah.com, and it seems simple to set up, and cost $.21/minute between Europe and the U.S. Honestly, $2 for a 10-minute phone call seems fair but I have no reference of other pricing.

What do y'all use?

Why not Skype? Unlimited calling to US and Canada for $2.99/mo.

If you're into iThings & where you're staying has wifi, why not use FaceTime? Or there's Skype if that's your cup o' tea.

Also, you might be surprised by your normal cell provider. It might be worth giving them a call...they might be able to set up a plan that's fairly cheap.

No matter what you do, though, turn off data roaming on your phone! That'll kill you deader than voice.

Skype is awesome for international stuff. If both parties use skype directly it's free. Unless the other person doesn't have a smartphone/computer I see no reason not to use it.

Group chat between the US, Japan, Jordan, Ukraine... no problem.
