Incorporation took longer than expected but we now have a fire under our ass as we have customers who want to do business with us. We need to chose only one for now to make sure we stay at a sustainable pace.
As we make our first game we are keeping the long term in mind for extensibility - the first game will fund the engine to expand. This means our second game will take a fraction of the time to make that the fist one does.
We also are positioning ourselves so we can legally put people on payroll, which looks like it may happen in a few months. Legal is still our biggest expense, but it helps me sleep at night.
Dave just took over the logo design. I'm anxious to get on official logo, even if it's only a temporary one. Some interesting ideas have passed by so far - like the 4 horseman of the apacalypse with chess piece horses (had to be subtle to not look cheesy).
The EverCerst Miencraft server is relaunching soon under the Apocoplay name. Note that over a year worth of gaming is still available in the planet Terra. That's over a gigabyte of data for the planet alone. I can upgrade to a modern server with 64GB of ram (thank you, moore's law) if the need arises.
We are now a real legal company.
I'm in contact with an HR firm and an accounting firm to make sure everything gets done smoothly.
I really would much rather focus on my core business than learning that I need to make sure my I9 forms use black ink instead of blue ink, so I'm farming that stuff out to reputable established firms.

Maradon! had this to say about Reading Rainbow:
"Compliance costs" are one of those little things that established giants shrug off, but make life very hard for small business.
No shit. This hit the nail on the head.
Things are still going well. I'm just pushing away for the August 1st release. When that happens I'll be legally allowed to share a lot more.
Let me just say I'm damn grateful to have an exceptional staff. Ghost of Forums Past fucked around with this message on 07-12-2012 at 09:30 PM.
