Like, years after the fact.

Since I have a job and a hilarious beard, I often find myself late to the party when it comes to discovering interesting crap on the internet. And ever since I finished downloading all of the porn, I tend to just putter about, stumbling across interesting things at random.

For example:

I didn't discover TV Tropes until early this year.
I first learned about The Slender Man last week.

So, has anyone else recently discovered something that's been well-established on the internet for years? Maybe we can all learn something. Or we can just laugh at each others' ignorance.

I first learned about The Slender Man five minutes ago through this page.

Nothing comes to mind.

The internet is getting stale. Maybe it needs some fresh DLC.

I'm taking a sketch-writing class. Our first assignment was to write a 'Fish out of water' sketch.

I wrote one about a redneck in a wine-tasting club.

Imagining the kind of names given to stereotypical Nascar-lovin', gun-totin' hillbilly rednecks; I came up with the name Coon.

So I write the sketch, everyone seems to like it. I show it to Zair, who informs me that Coon is a racial slang for black person. "It's a step below 'grandma'." as he put it.

Am I the only one who didn't know Coon was a racial slur?

I was always fond of the name Cooter, or Coot.

Nope, I didn't know either. And wtf is The Slender Man?

Also, my mom always used Boofer as slang for a black person. Thankfully, this isn't a habit I picked up. But it was always such a strange word to me.

Started here, spawned an entire mythos.

Pretty fun stuff.

And this is arguably the best stuff it has spawned.

If you like the Paranormal Activity movies, I reckon you will like this too. It's kinda similiar, but started before the frst movie was released, I think.

Introduction here.
