Holy shit. You guys were right. This game is awesome. I've only gotten into the sewers for the first time so far, but I'm loving it.

Deth and I finally got a PS3 today and this was top of my list to get. We also picked up God of War III for him, Folklore for me, and Uncharted for us both.

I'll definitely be picking up inFamous 2.

Hopefully you picked up a used copy of GOW3 on the cheap. It's a good game, but you can play it from start to finish in day, easily. Maybe 10 hours of game in there.
I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Once you get into it, I'd be interested to hear more of Folklore.

Yep, used copies of everything and saved even more cause we've got the membership with Gamestop. Most of the reason we got the PS3 now was because they offered a $100 off coupon on a new 320 gig system because we were members. $250 for a PS3 was just too good to pass up.

Folklore's next on my list after inFamous. I hope the Netherworld/Fae thing is done well, but if it's not, I only spent 20 bucks on it anyway.

I really like the open world of inFamous. I was first introduced to the open world/mission type of game with AC and I have to say that I like it a lot more than more linear games.

This thread reminded me I gotta hurry up and finish LA Noir before Infamous 2 comes out.

Argh, Conduits can kiss my ass. The Kamikaze are pretty annoying, too. Those destroy the tanker missions can be pretty tricky when there are like three Conduits guarding the thing. And I haven't found good tactics for Kamikazes yet except running my ass away to get distance and then tossing a Shock Grenade at them.

Are you going light or dark?

My biggest complaint in the game is the fact that all the best powers you get so late you don't get to have as much fun with them as I'd like.

Lightning Storm is OP as hell but oh god so much fun. The shield you get rules too. I was a bit disappointed with the rocket launcher, but at least grenades are awesome (AS they should be, you spend like 90% of the game using them).

Light. Shock Grenade is my best friend.

I may do a dark playthrough sometime just to see the differences, but I always go light first in these sorts of games.

I enjoyed Light just because I can spam the shit out of the basic lightning bolt and recharge without having to bother with electrical boxes/cars. Also the floating enemies upgrade for shockwave can be hilarious and awesome.

I liked Dark too, spamming a million grenades at once is hilarious, but dark feast is too time consuming and the exploding enemies/cars/etc was unimpressive with such a small explosion radius =/

The black/red lightning when you hit 100% evil is really awesome though.

I mean it wasn't a shoehorned twist ending. It fit very well with the flow that was established and left the game with the perfect oomph. Looking back, there were enough clues throughout the game to lead to the truth of things, they were just subtle.

I can't wait to sink my teeth into 2 now and continue the story.

Got this game for free from PSN along with LittleBigPlanet. Dunno when I'll get around to playing it though, as I've been sucked into a replay of FF7 since I found graphical enhancements for the PC version.

There is apparently an entire community devoted to modding FF7 and FF8 PC versions. There a little bit for the PSX version as well, but that's much more difficult to implement.

There are several projects underway to completely overhaul the game's graphics, but as you might imagine, it's a monumental task when undertaken by a rag-tag group of random people teaching themselves how to hack and mod a game in their spare time.

Even so, there have been many improvements released, such as:

  • Hi-res battle models for Cloud and Barret (and to a lesser extent, Tifa).
  • Many redone field models for over half the NPCs in the game.
  • There's been a retexture of the worldmap.
  • A music program that will actually play mp3 versions of the music instead of the MIDIs that the PC version uses (and you can basically assign any mp3 in existence to the game with it).
  • Updated hi-res weapon models for Cloud.
  • A custom graphics driver that allows for increasing the resolution the game can be played at, fixing many bugs with the game, allowing the battle menus to become transparent which allows the battle field take up more of the screen, skippable cutscenes, and more.
  • Many FMVs have either had increased resolutions, or replacements from other games/movies that cover the same scene

Almost all of these are still works in progress, but they do add a bit of replay value.

  • I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

The thing Prototype did better than InFamous: Animations.

The parkour animations in InFamous 1 were fucking terrible. Everything just blended really well in Prototype, you just felt like you were a guy who knew how to traverse terrain in a natural and fluid manner.

Yeah, it's one of the three or so exclusive titles, for some reason.

I think Sony is kinda trying to turn Cole into one of their mascots. Although I have no idea why they'd try that with such a bland character.

Yeah, PS3 exclusive, which is why I hadn't played it until now. We just finally got a PS3.

Adam liked Prototype as well. He's said there were issues with it, but not so many that it wasn't still an enjoyable game to play.

Prototype had more varied powers, faster flow, but wasn't as good on the graphics nor did it seem to 'flow' as well. Too easy to cheese specific powers to make yourself practically invincible. Absorbing people never got old. Both games were good, but honestly I enjoyed InFamous a lot more.

Infamous was slower paced, climbing buildings and shit is definitely slower than in Prototype, but the environment felt bigger when you couldn't go absolutely anywhere anytime.

Some of the repetitious parts of InFamous (The sewer levels) were made better by the realization that after I go through I'm guaranteed to get a new power. Yet every single base assault in Prototype was always the same. Same base, same guards, same building, etc. Also the bosses in Infamous were definitely better than the bosses in Prototype.

I'm not too far into Infamous2 yet but it's still DAMN FUN. I just miss old cole's voice.

Graphics weren't amazing, no. But they were better than in Prototype! But that isn't saying much either, because the graphics in Prototype were crap too.

Infamous struck me as marginally less monotonous than Prototype.

Also, Prototype's plot was a dozen times more animu than Infamous, and I count that as a point in favor of Infamous.

I beat infamous 2! The good ending, at least. Since it's the last game of the series, they have two completely different endings to choose from, and they're wildly, wildly separate. It's hard to call either ending good or bad, since each ending involves the deaths of a large group of people.

The "Good" Ending involves killing all conduits or people who have the conduit gene to save humanity from the plague; the "Bad" Ending involves ascending as many Conduits as possible using Humanity so that the next step in human evolution can continue unabated.

In either case the ending did leave me feeling kinda bad afterwards.

In either case one of the best friends, Zeke or Cole, ends up alone. Since I did the good ending, Zeke ended up mourning his brother. Good ending but it was sad; the game really makes Zeke a LOT more likable this time around.

Okay so maybe I did sniffle a little bit but that's all I swear.
