Well, I guess those red staters sure showed us. I'm quivering with impotent liberal fear. Liberals everywhere, take note!

I'm disappointed that the Dems regained Senate majority. More wasteful, unsustainable spending on the horizon! Honestly, Republican control or a stalemate wouldn't really be better; the conservative variety in Washington today appears to have the approximate intelligence and stubbornness of mules. Opposition for the sake of opposition, at the cost of improvement to the situation, is pretty pointless.

That was going to happen no matter who's in charge. The Republicans stopped bothering with fiscal responsibility a decade ago.

This is very true...

The lack of meaningful disparity between parties is a lot of why I feel like voting is a waste of my time these days. The Tea Party is batshit insane but it's refreshing just for the fact that its rhetoric is different.

Edit: Irony of ironies has it that the Tea Party has had signs saying "Throw the bums out!" all over the Bay Area for months and we re-elected Barbara Boxer; more to the point, we made the man who presided over Oakland descending to fourth most dangerous city in the US our Governor. I find further hilarity in the fact that California is, geographically, a decidedly red state; I really must get around to comparing population of the red counties vs. the blue here.

There's something entirely ironic about the concept of midterm elections.

"Oh, we don't like what the party in power has been doing! Let's further hobble them and make them completely unable to correct their course by voting against them and making them the House minority!"

The very reason Obama fell short of people's expectations is being constantly forced to compromise, and this'll only make worse. I guess all he can do at this point is turn to foreign policy, as Clinton did, where both parties might not stall each other as much.

I'm somewhat glad we have more than two parties in Canuckistan, although on the flipside that's why Harper is in power right now.

And us weeping liberals should actually thank the Tea Party. Because of their retarded candidates in Delaware and Nevada, the Senate will wind up being 51-49, rather 49-51 it would have been, if actual, non-insane Republicans had won the primaries in those states.

Nah, it's going to be 52-48. Democrats will take both Washington and Colorado, and Lieberman will caucus with the repubs.

You mean the surplus that rode on the high point of the irresponsible fiscal policy, established in 1993, that resulted in our present credit crisis?

lol

no

I mostly meant that both parties were just cunts that stole our money for pet projects that are hardly profitable for the public in the long term, but what you've just said is factually incorrect (not that I care since it's irrelevant to my point but I suppose "fiscal responsibility" is the spin word attributed to budget balance so your confusion is understandable)

You're trying to argue that the root legislative cause isn't the root because later legislation made it worse; basically, you're just looking for a way to shift blame from the Clinton administration to the Bush. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, you're known for this kind of stupidity.

And the guys who made the gun should have known that exotic gun firing mechisms would be created to fire guns at unprecedented levels before they made the gun that was going to just be fired every now and then for home defense, so let's blame them too.

u so mad

More like the nuke was created for better or worse, and the Clinton administration just failed to realize its potential for massive destruction because it was politically convenient to restore budget balance temporarily before their fragile house of cards came crashing down in a blinding white light

This has also been an "analogy"
