It looks like it's simulating the G-forces you would expect to feel while driving. When he accelerates, it tilts up to simulate being pushed back in your seat, and so on.

Why would you waste that on racing? It looks like it'd be better for a flight sim, except for the lack of a roll function.

You could never simulate the G forces accurately, or rather, you can simulate car G forces more accurately because they're less intense.

I've seen some arcade cabinets that do this as well, but because they didn't block off external visual sources I found them unplayable. I kept trying to keep the room as a point of reference so when I'd go into a turn the cabinet pitched the wrong way and I kept trying to fall out....

Still, it's impressive that someone put it together...
