That's just cool as hell, but how much power does it require for movement compared to something with wheels?

I thought I read somewhere that something like that needed at least 5 legs to be truly stable for anything useful.

What's always freaked me out about this line of robots is that their movement looks so much like your Ray Harryhausen or Stan Winston stop-motion animation.

Today they're climbing rocks and disarming bombs, tomorrow they're sending second-generation robot assassins back in time.

dunno, strikes me this sort of movement isn't terribly energy efficient, which is a cornerstone of unmanned probes. IMHO be happier to see a hard suited Human trotting around Mars.
