Suprise! Boy did it ever suck. Why did it get rave reviews?
No, no, not in a story sense. The screenplay was well written and well adapted from the book, but as a movie it was an absolute mess. The voice acting was monotone all the way through and absolutely appalling, which made the "puns" and "jokes" (and I use those terms loosely) have no impact whatsoever. I admit I laughed at a few parts but the rest left me feeling decidingly awkward like I should say something to break the silence and make the movie feel better about itself.
The stop-motion animation was spotty at best. Aardman animations does a much better job at this. This was like grade school work.
Sorry for those who liked it. You're easily amused.

Yeah. That was a good movie. The story really shone through and wasn't overshadowed by too many jokes, puns, or gags.
