Also, aren't there web applications that'll rip the audio out of youtube videos and let you download the mp3? Seems like that'd be pretty easy.

Yeah, but usually the quality isn't as good and the ones I've used seem to make the playtime on the mp3 artificially long. Like a 2 minute video/song says it's 23 minutes while still only being 2 minutes. It's really only been handy for me for things that are only on youtube/hard to find anywhere else.
