Topic: I need boots

Where can I buy good boots. I'm doing a lot of walking up non-shoveled driveways and I need a good pair of boots so my feet stop getting soaked. I'm looking for something like this style where it's just a running shoe that covers a good portion of the foot and ankle. The kind linked above is steel toe, and since I'm walking a lot and nothing heavy is going to be dropped on my foot, I don't want it. What's a good brand for that style?

Maybe they're not to your taste, but I've been quite happy with these. I've had my current pair for five years. Good for trudging through foot-deep snow, the large footprint is good on icy surfaces, and they're comfortable enough to dance in (I wore them to a halloween party once).

Addendum: The ones I wear are an early-model explorer.

You're still in Canada right? Hit up Mountain Equipment Co-op. That's where I bought my boots from and they're fantastic. People are really helpful there too.

I'm partial to Red Wing boots. Wear them at work every day, they've lasted longer than any boots I've ever had.

If slippery ice is an issue for you, my airline pilot friends swear by these universally. In the winter they do a lot of walking on icy ramps. One even broke an arm after slipping during a walkaround. Those can slip on and off for extra traction when you need it. You could get a pair of waterproof shoes and a set of those and be pretty safe.

I wear these.

They're pretty durable for the price, they are more or less water resistant, and best of all, speed laces. And they're pretty comfy, too.

Also, they are the ones we're issued at my command.
