My girlfriend and I have been looking for a home for a while now, we submitted our first offer today and after one small counteroffer we agreed and have submitted all the proper paperwork to ge this started .House came on the market yesterday and our appointment to see homes was later in the day so she happened to get it in time for us to see.

Downright amazing, raised ranch finished top to bottom in hardwood and ceramic tile, two full baths... we were in awe the moment we stepped in. We've seen some SHIT houses so my first thought was "Self, we are clearly in the wrong home here".

We weren't! Even secured all of the appliances with our offer, brand new matching sets no less. Have a friend of ours who currently pays a crapload of rent to live with his buddy in a cramped wartime era home moving into the lower level, cutting him a huge deal on rent so he saves money and we save money.

So damn excited right now, after the past few weeks of shit houses or great homes in shit neighborhoods this seems like a dream or something.

The card we got from the realtor for a local lawyer for the closing has an email address @awesomelawyer.com... that is just... odd. Thinking we will find someone else <_<

Now is indeed the time to buy.

If you can secure financing, of course.

Isnt it great?

We just bought a house too. Took possession of it on the 29th. 2100 SQFT, three bedrooms, 2.5 bath, HUGE kitchen.... And best of all, the mortgage payment is less than my monthly housing allowance. Two stories, too.

Though I am definitely painting the walls. It has some horrible colors in that place...

Don't worry, they just raised the debt ceiling to $10.651 trillion to allow our federal mortgage buddies to take on more loans

Nothing solves a problem quite like more of what caused it

Our city, Windsor, is a HOLE. For a while we had the highest unemployment rate in all of north america excluding mexico, but recently we moved up a spot from that. To say the housing market is a wreck here is an understatement, sucks for a lot of people but as new buyers looking to purchase it is nothing but pure awesome for us.

We wrangled their new dishwasher, fridge, oven, front loaded dryer & washer along with all fixtures and new window treatments for 2 thousand more, saving us a shitton there.

Waiting till tuesday for final confirmation on financing but we are putting 20% in a downpayment on the house to avoid the mortgage getting ensured (And thus avoid getting taxes added onto the mortgage itself), own our own vehicles and have no existing debt. We feel we are in very good shape and are hoping for the best.

I moved into my own house about three months ago. Seems we're all getting older on the EC boards.

Laus Deo! I'd hate it if I were still 12 like when I joined. What an awkward year to be stuck at that would be.

We're in the process of buying a new home in Michigan (where it's a buyers dream come true). I've got a handful picked out as it is now, but I won't be up there until end of September for a weekend to actually go in and nose around (hubby moves in 3 1/2 weeks). Thank goodness for in-laws.

I wish I was old enough to be buying houses in this market. Instead, I'm going into debt for college! D:

School loans aren't "real" debt. You could probably find a foreclosure for less than you could find an apartment.

I've still got about 15 grand in school loans, and my bankruptcy won't even be finalized for another two weeks, and I'm already receiving pre-approved loan offers for mortgages, auto refinancing, credit cards, you name it.

The system at work.

I'm in the process of saving up for my down payment on a house. Should have enough in a year to year and a half. Hopefully the market won't have turned around by then.

Lots of this going around it seems. My wife and I purchased a home a couple months ago too. 2 story traditional with 4 bedrooms. 1.25 baths (.25 means a toilet in the basement) remodeled kitchen. Got it for a song.

For those of you that HATE and I mean HATE getting those damned mailings for credit cards and such, just go to the opt out website, I did this a few years ago and like 98% of our junk mail stopped. You can choose to make it go away permanently or for 5 years as well as some other options. We chose permanently as we had some credit card troubles in the past.

I want a house... But houses in Toronto are stupidly expensive for a piece of shit.

Congrats on the new house. Put up some photos when you get a chance!

Oh my god yes, we heard about the prices up there when we were house hunting and it is downright frightening the difference 4 hours of travel time makes. That blows :\

Toronto is expensive? Try Vancouver, you silly cads!

I swear, once I get back to Montreal paying rent will be a relief.
