Season 1 owned everything, I had feared that they would only go downhill from Season 2 but so far every consecutive episode of Season 2 has just completely blown me away. After this much of season 2 I will honestly say this is the best show I have ever seen on TV to date.
Ideally, I want to see this show run 5 or 6 seasons, with the final season starting with Dexter being caught 100% and the final season revolving around what would become one EPIC trial
Also, Lila is hot beyond reckoning. I would hit that so hard it would take the future king of England to pull me out.
OK, spoiler text time
The extent of which Doakes got owned is mind boggling, Dexter even informed him he was going to own him promptly before doing so and it was just so perfect. He has protected the archive lady but jesus CHRIST Doakes is going to go totally off the deep end now. This will clearly not end well at all for Doakes and maybe even Dexter, who knows. We rewinded and watched that scene over again (Yay on-demand TV) just to experience it once again. I got thrown a curve by Lila being so fucking crazy and I love it, I thought I had it figured out where the whole relationship was headed but this has changed everything. And Dexter's little monologue backfired so amazingly bad, that was so huge. Dexter meets Lila, Lila helps Dexter re-evaluate himself, Dexter does things Dexter would normally not do, Dexter more or less points the entire police force to his front door and doesn't even know it yet. Then Lila burns her entire apartment down in insane jealousy and has now ensured Dexter can't get rid of her. Dexter doubted Harry and turned to Lila, trying to change himself but Dexter has at least PARTIALLY figured out just what Lila truly is at the end of this week's episode when he is staring at the light bulb she got 'fixed'. Lila will destroy anything to get what she wants, I think Dexter just got that. And next week he gets to find out thanks to Lila 'helping' him, he just fucked himself over! Next week can't come soon enough D= But on the bright side, the sex is clearly FANTASTIC The relationship between Debra and Lundry I saw coming a mile away but I swear they are leading up to something big with Debra. I don't think they did that whole scene of Deb zoning out on the treadmill as her going "Wait, I like Lundry!". She has known Dexter her entire life, knows everything about the case and to be perfectly honest I think her really going deep into her mind and for once really letting things in her mind work themselves out will lead her to figuring out just who the murderer is. She has said that she would shoot the butcher on sight, murder is murder, but at the same time Dexter is possibly the only person in the world she could NOT shoot. Which strikes me as being potentially AMAZING if they play it that way. I want to think that they are building up to something major with Deb zoning out like that, something more than her just getting annoyed at her temp boyfriend Also, I trust the show will continue to strive harder and harder to ensure that each episode contains more naked Lila than the last. It is for the good of mankind. Seriously. By the end of the season she should just be naked all the time, they don't even need to explain it, can just have other characters not even notice if you have to.
I saw the first episode of Dexter on some free promotional DVD and am tempted to get the Season 1 DVDs, however.

I view the books as being a great idea with a terrible execution that inspired a brilliant TV show
