However, does anyone want to swap friend vouchers? I've got like 17 or 18, and I think you only need 15 to unlock all the bonuses.

It really is a good game, most of us just don't care to have Maradon come in and fag up a thread about it.
I was going to come in here and ask how it was since it's probably the first Wii game that I'm actually sincerely interested in, but FORGET. THAT.

I am seriously and genuinely shocked. What's got you interested in it the most? I just beat it the other day.

Probably that it's the first game to use Wii controls in the way that gamers were excited about from the day it was announced (Red Steel doesn't count because it sucked)
Of the flagships, Metroid has always been my favorite. Prime and Prime 2 kinda disappointed me, though. They captured much of the old metroid feel, but still felt "boxed-in" where the SNES title and earlier had a much greater sense of exploration and the potential for finding hidden tidbits.
I was wondering if the Wii title was any more open, more exploratory and less FPS-ey, and also the extent to which the motion sensing controls are actually used. Maradon! fucked around with this message on 09-07-2007 at 12:34 AM.
They're the ones selling a billion copies I guess. Then again, so are "Bratz" license games...
it's just not profitable to have your big franchises only target the core market

I don't think what Kegwen means is what you think he means. At least as far as Corruption goes anyway.
The amount of shooting in Prime3 doesn't come anywhere NEAR the amount of shooting in the original Metroid titles. The only difference being it's shooting in first person with free look as opposed to side scrolling running and gunning like what was required in the original and SNES Metroids. I mean how many of you had numb thumb syndrome/blisters from running down corridors spamming fire at sprites litterally coming out of every crack. You still have to devise enemy weaknesses, paterns, timing and the like as in the original games. It's definitely no frag-fest in the least. So unless your definition of a "FPS Themed Metroid" just means anything that requires you to shoot in first person, then no, it's not a FPS Themed Metroid. If that IS your definition, well them I'm sorry. You're missing 99% of the game you are playing.
And what he means about no backtracking isn't that you never have to go back and re-explore, (You have to re-explore quite a bit actually, and Prime 3 has FAR more secrets, hidden objectives, easter eggs, and fun stuff to seek out than either of the first two in the series.) It's just that you don't have to manually spend the 30 minutes or more running the backtracking. Gunship yay! That was always just a time sink anyway. That being said, you CAN manually backtrack a bit of it if you so desire. (Excluding space)
And as to your question, there is actually quite a bit of non-gimmicky Wii-Mote interactive content, all things concidered, that ISN'T related to shooting.
And it is DEFINITELY more open and exploratory, the only realy FPSy elements to it is free-look shooting. Of course there are settings to just eliminate that if you want, but I dunno why you'd want to. It feels less involved that way.

Listen, I just wanted the screenshot tool and the other little extras. I have 21 friend vouchers at this point.
I can spare about six, I'm on my second playthrough right now, and have thus far been getting dicked around with people not sending me vouchers back.

Fifteen coming your way.
Sorry about the wii number. I went to the Wii menu when it was loading something and all my data got corrupted, forcing me to send it into Nintendo. Got a new wii, kept my Wii points, purchased software, etc, lost all my saves and my wii number.

You have to have friends first.

Certain actions in-game net you friend vouchers. (Killing 20 commandos, killing certain enemies in certain ways... bowling for bots is my fav)
Using the internet connectivity, you then send these vouchers to your friends who are playing Prime 3 as well, and they turn them in for a friend token.
Fifteen friend tokens are required to unlock everything on one save-slot. This includes the nifty tools, some concept art and the like.
Other things are unlockable via non-friend tokens, and you get plenty of them during the game itself.

Indeed. It unlocks half of the galleries, the "fun" stuff (Screenshot tool, bumper stickers for your ship) and some dioramas. Whatever they are.
The Dioramas are pretty cool, though they're functionally useless. They're 3D depictions of areas and beings within the game. Think along the lines of the trophies in Super Smash Brothers Melee.

Tough only when it comes to getting NINE of every soul.
The max number is nine, right?
I've finished the game a couple times. I have all of the rare crafted weapons and I have found at least one of every soul. Only thing left to do is to get the highest number of all of the souls.
Onto the topic of Prime 3, I'm being very stubborn about actually finishing the game without having all of the pickups. I just destroyed the seed on the pirate homeworld and now I have the option to travel through the wormhole to Phaaze, and I'm still missing three pickups. I must find them! Go to the observatory in Skytown and use the spider ball to activate all the bombslots in the area, then use the nova beam to turn on the switch hidden behind the phasite at the base of the machine and press the butan. It'll reveal all of the suit expansions on all the planets with a solid white dot. Already picked up ones will be a white X.

Do you need any more for the other stuff? Sounds like you have dioramas, so you got some. I don't want them going off into the void!
Did you go into the "Configure WiiConnect24" settings and set it to yes? S'the only thing I can think of that wouldn't make it work.

The logic train ran off the tracks when Delphi Aegis said:

I did. That's something I really don't like about the strategy they've got here, there's some SERIOUS delay to this, and another bug to it as well, it seems.
I've had to quit Prime and Re-enter in order to actually receive friend vouchers for some reason. Lemme know when those vouchers arrive, 'cause I have received the ones from you.

I already knew about the observatory thing, but I TOTALLY forgot about that little phazite window at the base of the structure. Thanks!!!
Try and send me a Wii-mail next time you get a chance, Mooj.

Delphi Aegis painfully thought these words up:
I've quit out of prime and re-entered, i've re-named you in my friends (And prime recognizes the change), I've wii-mailed you, I've been able to send YOU vouchers. Yet I have yet to see your name appear black or get a single voucher. This makes me sad.Try and send me a Wii-mail next time you get a chance, Mooj.
Y'know, I think it may be because I don't keep my Wii in Standby mode... I turn it off, 'cause the damn thing gets too hot if I turn it to Standby. This'd be fine in other places, but in Vegas? That's system death, right there. Let me put the system into standby and see if that does anything for you...
I just hit the power button on the wiimote, heh.

Nobody really understood why Delphi Aegis wrote:

Not unplugged, but not with WiiConnect24 on either. I power it off into the red, rather than the yellow. Hold down the power button for about five seconds or so.
I'd leave it in standby more often if Nintendo would program the damn fans to run while it's doing that. The heat buildup is awful. Probably my one complaint about the Wii.
How many more do you need then?
Oh, and sadly enough, friend vouchers that you've already earned you won't earn again in a higher difficulty. D= Only new ones. Though, there are a bunch...
And aimed boost ball is pretty handy.
