Rockstar just handed the holiday '07 sales victory to Nintendo on a silver platter. Halo 3 is huge and all, but GTA's mainstream appeal was going to be a big factor in moving consoles for both 360 and PS3.

Bioshock has virtually no advertising that I've seen. It's unfortunate, too, because it promises to be a truly excellent game. Rock Band will be big, but it's a new IP and Microsoft won't spend any money on marketing it. Maybe MTV's marketing muscle will be as effective as Microsoft's was for Gears of War, but that's uncertain at this point. Mass Effect needs a lot of marketing muscle from Microsoft if they want it to sell consoles. Halo 3 is obviously huge, but it would have been very nice going into holiday '07 if Microsoft had the cheaper console with GTA on it.
I'm talking overall hardware sales to date and not quality or quantity of games, by the way. GTA4 has brand recognition and huge mainstream appeal. read the thing I posted in Karnaj's thread and watch the videos. If that doesn't get you excited for the game then nothing will. In terms of what it's promising and initial impressions I've read it's a serious candidate for game of the year
Manhunt 2 probably won't be released this year. It was banned in its current form and Rockstar is working on appealing it
If Rock Band bombs Harmonix will die and that's not something we joke about mister
Eternal Sonata looks like a good game for a rental, unfortunately. It's apparently rather easy according to goons that've played the Japanese version

Im sad for the removal, and that stuff was my favorite part of system shock 2. It was also why the game had a cult following. I suspect another cult following for this one, but it will probably sell fairly well as just a REALLLY spooky FPS.

It could sell well if somebody put some marketing behind it but so far nobody has bothered. Not nearly enough people know the game exists. Unless it somehow manages to pull extraordinary popularity from word of mouth, it won't sell well
