Anybody else tried this out yet?

It's a nifty little RPG/puzzle game for the DS. It's similar to a lot of the online gem matching games, where you try to match 3 or more of a color. The difference is, in this game you're only matching gems to power your attacks. Each of the four classes has a variety of spells and abilities, and you can capture and train monsters to learn additional abilities and so on. The plot is sort of sparse, but sufficient to keep things going and provide a sense of direction. The game is fairly open ended, though. Each section of the main plot opens up easily two or three hours of secondary material, and once you have a dungeon to capture monsters with that can consume tons of time as well.

I've put maybe ten hours into it so far and am absolutely enjoying the heck out of it. I only recently got my DS, and this game is really making me enjoy it.

My biggest gripe is that you're penalized very harshly for attempting to move a gem to a spot that doesn't result in a match, and the stylus makes it very easy to accidentally hit the wrong gem and cost yourself some life and a turn. And even that's pretty minor. I think it was mostly because up until now I haven't used the stylus much.

Anybody else played it? If so, what did you think?

It sucks. Get Pokemon or Ouendan 2.

I greatly enjoyed the game. Nice time-waster when you have a few minutes to spare. Beat every quest, caught almost every creature...only thing I never finished was learning all the spells. I'll likely never play Bejeweled again because of how time I sunk into that damned game, but it was fun for the few days it kept me occupied.

My largest gripe about the game was the fact that about half the map serves no purpose whatsever. It's just empty.

Puzzle quest rocked, lost so much time to that game

Multiplayer is all about Cunning, going first is so catastrophically huge.

Granted it was mostly whoever goes first performs a brutal string of agony that kills your opponent before he can even take his first turn... but still <_<

On the other hand, Konami Arcade Classics is fuckin' fantastic. Never before has there been a game with as much "pick-up-and-go" potential except for a whole lot of other games on DS, but hey this one's pretty A+ too.

Battleship, Sorry, Trouble, Connect Four

I'm going to have to buy this. Gains mentioned the one with Yahtzee last night and how it is rare now. And the shit is going for 50 bucks on eBay.

That one's not as good, though. Trouble and Connect Four are horribly boring. Sorry is awesome, but Battleship is on the other collection. (Monopoly/Yahtzee/Boggle/Battleship). Either are fine, but the Monopoly one is easily better. Also, Uno 52 is a waste of money. Get Uno/Skip-Bo/Uno Freefall.

I really want the Uno one. I look at it every time I go in the store.

And...does the Trouble one at least make a bubble pop sound? O=

Trouble would be fine, but the game moves at an extremely slow pace. For a game that is just "roll dice, move piece" with very little strategy or anything involved, you'll find yourself falling asleep waiting for the CPU to actually move. Or your piece to move after the roll.

I totally own the one with Yahtzee. Its a pretty sweet game.

I remember one day thinking to myself "Man, it would be the best thing ever if they put monopoly out on the DS." And just a mere day or two later I see that magical game on a shelf at EB. It was love at first sight.
