I know there is likely 100 posts about this already. I'm lookin' to upgrade to a new LCD, I have around 400-500 to spend, although I don't need anything overpriced. I was looking for a reliable LCD, not for gaming, more for graphic work. I was looking at NEC, I have a 17" now by them, for a widescreen, but I wasn't sure if anyone had any suggestions.

I had my eye on..

I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001096 about 2 months ago and I love it. No dead pixels, wonderful color, easy setup. No ghosting on games at all.

Actually I looked all the Samsungs, the main reason I backed out was they all had a same con, people said they had blacklight bleed. I don't know how true that is..

All LCD monitors do, at least to some degree.it doesn't seem to make much of a difference, though. Samsung is an awesome brand, though.

Me, I'm looking at the HP W2207 myself.

I picked up one of these off the Dell refurbished site for about $250. It's a great monitor. There were a few dead pixels, but they massaged out easily or just fixed themselves.

You'll generally only notice it in a dark room when the monitor is black but the backlight is still on (like, when a game is loading). And, only if you're looking for it.

In other words, most people aren't going to notice backlight bleed.

Is there any means by which I can play a full-screen game on one monitor while reserving the other for IMs and such like? I've been wanting a second monitor for that purpose but I've not gotten around to seeing if that's even possible.

A laptop or second computer is really your best option for this sort of thing.

I have a Samsung 20" at work and a Dell 20" at home and honestly I don't see a difference.

Deth and I just got Viewsonic VA903bs and they work great. Only 19 inch, so you'd probably want a larger screen, but I've never had a problem with any Viewsonic monitor I've had in the past and they've lasted a lot longer than any others.
