Look everyone a left wing democrat is acting like a left wing democrat!

Really this shouldn't surprise you or anyone else. Especially the congressional district that elected her.

Also the article makes a lot of statements without providing any sources.

I dislike Pelosi too, but do you not think you are getting a bit obsessive about it? There are far worse things lurking in Washington than Nancy Pelosi, who is nothing more than a "mostly harmless" mouthpiece.

Technically, communist advocacy isn't supposed to be a part of being a left wing democrat.

As you indicate, Pelosi is an empty skirt, but that's not what I found interesting about this article. What I found more illustrative was the fact that moveon.org and the other leftist organizations were actively supporting a communist movement in this manner.

Maybe it's not just me seeing red under every bed?

There is a lot of other things going on here as well, we do not know the reason those organizations opposed the meeting. We also do not really know if those organizations really pushed for such a move or if Pelosi's decision was influenced by them. The writer could have made up those comments since he offers no verifiable source to validate them.

Communism is a big red herring, Stalinist Red Communism has failed as you so often point out. What is left is labor movements in developing countries, that will dip into various forms of socialism and eventually revolution out of them. The United States went through such a period, we just were not as violent about it.

We will disagree on the level of socialism and nationalization needed here in the US, but population growth and ease of travel, hallmarks of an open capitalist society, do create such a need. The real argument is to what level of intrusion any government should have upon it's citizens. That is what I think you should ponder on, not who some rag doll mouthpiece decides to meet with.

You do know that moveon.org is funded by URL=http://www.traditionalvalues.org/modules.php?sid=1852]George Soros[/URL], right?

Yes, I know that's a dated link... I'm trying to find a recent one that directly links George Soros to moveon.org.

yeah, I do... George has his fingers in so many pies it's really shocking. His money can be found almost anywhere you find people advocating command government.

This article only cites a wallstreet journal article, which I have read, but is not available online. If you can find a back issue of the WSJ from 4/26 I suggest you check it out - it's cited, and corroborates the information in the article.

This was also a stand taken by Karnaj. I only wish it were true, and that there were no more serious, hardline communist advocates with any real power left. Unfortunately, news like this and even more unsettling stuff happens all the time.

There is a real, highly determined and powerful movement in the world today that wants a command economy. They want to seize the means of production and distribute wealth at gunpoint from each in his ability to each in his need. This is the heart and soul of stalinist red communism. Almost sixty percent of our current federal budget is spent on precisely that! Today it's referred to by the softer name "social democracy" but the ideals have not changed.

Look at politics, and decide for yourself who is trying to erode the concepts of individual property rights, take the wealth of producers and bestow it, as though it were entitled, upon whoever they wish. Decide for yourself who views the world in terms of class struggle, precisely as Marx himself did.

George W. Bush isn't the only one.

Of course I can only ask you to prove the massive left wing conspiracy to take everything you have away from you.

The federal government is never going to take the 37.25$ you have in your pocket away from you at gunpoint. Sensationalism is something you often preach against, and it is somewhat surprising that you just as often grab that banner and wave it around.

Oh and this is the quote that is cited from the WSJ.

quote:
On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal editorial page reported that former vice president Al Gore had declined to meet with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, citing concerns about human rights.

Nothing at all about Pelosi.
