An email describing some details about the tournament.
I don't know anything else about it yet. I will know more tomorrow or Thursday. Maybe one of the Gamestop employees here (Delphi, I think?) can give some more insight if their store recieved the Tournament kit yet.
I shall be rocking out with my guitar out for sure.
But I still can't beat Jordan on Expert. D:

Considering there's like maybe 500 people that can do it nationwide, I don't think this is a problem.
They wouldn't put something that virtually no one could beat in a tournament.

They mentioned the GH2 demo kit in the e-mail. I'm guessing that would mean that the tournament kit is going to have a code to unlock the songs that were left on the demo disk, but unplayable. That leaves 30 songs open. Better knowing that than nothing. It also says that the tournament kit will be here no later than Thursday, so yeah. We'll know by then. Carry Me Home
Fuck that song, fuck it in the ass.
So damn hard to play.
Free t-shirt for me! Woohoo!
(Carry Me Home is awesome once you learn how to play it. But I still can't get the B-R-RY-YB-RY parts down with consistency.)
Since one of the Gamestops (the one I signed up at) had only one person sign up, they sent me and the t-shirt to the other Gamestop which advertised better and had like 12 people there (30 signed up, but a whole lot of no-shows).
Since most of the participants were little kids (8-13) with a couple high school students and college students, they had two tournaments set up. Everyone was allowed in both, but the first one started off having everyong play a song on Easy in Pro Face-Off against each other. Then medium, then hard, then the final round they played Jordan on Expert. No one there was good enough to beat it, so having it in Pro Face-Off was good, because it's just based on points. The second tournament was the same way, only it started on Medium. Jordan was also the final song.
I got first rounded by the other college kid there in the tournament because I missed a note on Psychobilly Freakout on Easy. The second tournament was much funner and a couple of the kids who were barely on Medium dropped out. I played Six on Medium against some little kid and won by a little, smoked some high school kid on Rush on Hard, then beat a 10 year old at Jordan on Expert by only like 50k (kid was pretty damn good, I think).
It was much better that they didn't go by the official rules, because they made it open to the people of the younger age group and made the whole thing a lot more enjoyable for everyone. I was happy, and I got a t-shirt. (and a calendar and a DDR Ultramix 4 soundtrack from the demo drawer that they keep extra shit in. the second place kid, who was actually second place in both tournaments, got some demos and stuff from there too so it wasn't just 1st place or nothing).
They did a real good job organizing it in the end, and I was impressed. Good times were had by all.
