I'd be on Live, but my router refuses to cooperate with my 360 D:

Far be it from me to criticize a company for having the gall to demand they be paid for their product, but so far all I've gotten for free for my $9/mo subscription is some chromehounds weapons and a sponsored Nacho Libre theme.

On the other hand, there's no way to sort downloads by cost so I may very well have missed some free goodies.

Free for $9/mo.

Are you sure you're not a closet commie? You sure do seem to take offense at a lot of free market things lately!

Inclement Karma, BTW.

Almost every game has a free demo available, there are a massive amount of trailers and promo videos, and every once in a while you can get XBLA games entirely free by downloading them within a certain time after they're released.

Chackly is me. Maradon was taken.

Value judgements are an integral part of the free market, not criticism of it.

Are demos worth $9/mo? I don't know, I usually get demos for free everywhere else. That's why they have demos: they're not a game, they're advertising.

Hopefully they'll add enough "non-premium" content to justify the subscription fee, but right now it's pretty much a more expensive fileplanet subscription with less content and no fancy beta access.

It'd be nice if I got my 9/mo back in MS Points.

Where does $9/month come from? A 12-month subscription is $50. If you're paying more than twice that by going for a monthly rate. . .it's not MS screwing up!

Now that I know who you are, I'll accept the friend thingy.

Some of us don't have yet another fifty bucks to drop on this thing in the span of a week.

For what it's worth though, I don't see anything that would justify $4.10/mo either.

Wow I thought that was available in silver.

I wondered why Sega was able to run all thier own servers for chromehounds.

I guess it's not TOO bad then, but I still wish you got some kinda monthly allotment of MS points.

So. . .you can't afford $50 for a year's subscription, but you can afford $100+?

Silver is gamer tag, gamer card, friends list, and some marketplace stuff basically. Gold gives you everything that isn't extra monthly charges (FFXI) or based on a microtransaction. It would be nice to get some MS points for free, but its understandable why they don't give you any. There are free Gold weekends though, which extend your subscription (I think).

Yes, it's possible to abuse free trials with different screen names. It's more of a hassle than it's worth though.

I suppose silver members can't play FFXI-360 even if they're paying the FFXI monthly fee, eh?

Multiple monthly subscriptions for the same game = HIGHLY NEGATIVE VALUE JUDGEMENT FROM THIS CORNER, THX.

And as far as microtransactios are concerned, ~$2 for a theme (or a new chromehounds gun with a reused model) doesn't seem very micro to me.

I wasn't really clear about FFXI, it's silver + monthly fee. I believe MMORPGs in general won't require gold if they have a monthly fee.

I agree about microtransactions; most of them are too expensive. MS doesn't handle the microtransaction cost though. Actually, I can't stand microtransactions at all, but that's another discussion.
