So, uh, I really don't have anything to say. It's just horribly depressing.
Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite. - John Kenneth Galbraith

As bad as it is, I can only see this getting worse. What's to stop the Sunni from considering the hospitals a fair target now?
Much more likely would be the hospitals refusing service to the shiites toa avoid things like this

Well it's a good thing we freed these people, otherwise they wouldn't be able to kill eachother.
Yes, it's such a shame that they weren't killing each other before this...for thousands of years...

Your stance on this is intellectually bankrupt.

Maradon, you should be the last person to call anyone bankrupt.
I remember him talking about it, but I don't actually think he filed for it.
I'm sure if you keep digging you'll find a logical basis for that somewhere.

Hah, yeah you're right, Iraq really was better off under Saddam.I'm sure if you keep digging you'll find a logical basis for that somewhere.
The better question is why did it matter to us? Its clear there wasn't an imminent threat, and if you still want to go with the excuse of preventing genocide, then there's a place called Darfur that needs some attention too.

Demosing:

Ya, the military epicenter of militant islam was no threat to a country threatened by militant islam. I see you too have trouble reading past the bumper sticker slogans.
If you're really interested in how wrong you are, pick up a copy of "The Connection" by Stephen F. Hayes, it's a 191 page laundry list of valid and publically verifiable reasons for American intervention in Iraq.
While you're at it you can pick up George Sadr's book detailing how, as a general of the Baathist airforce, he supervised convoys of hollowed out 757's full of chemical weapons into Syria for storage.
But of course, I'm sure you aren't interested in any of that.
Darfur is being handled by the UN in much the same way that Democrats insisted we handle Iraq. The results are currently identical to every other international crisis the UN has ever handled. Maradon! fucked around with this message on 09-01-2006 at 05:44 PM.
The UN exists for no other reason than to act as a soapbox for third world warlords and tin-pot dictators. It's a shining example of the corruption inherent in top-down command governments. Maradon! fucked around with this message on 09-01-2006 at 05:52 PM.

It's clear now, but it was hardly clear then. Further, if you look at Saddam's regime, you'll notice how quick he was to go to war with his neighbors. There'd have been a war in any case.
Also, exactly what message would it send the world if the US had simply packed up and gone home when the existing sanctions collapsed, as they were about to? It would prove conclusively that after Viet Nam, Beirut, and Somalia that the US simply doesn't have the will to take strong measures when defied openly. Welcome to lack of security.
Whether you like it or not, the war proved quite conclusively that it's a really, really bad idea to defy the US, and that counting on the fact that we don't have the balls to take out defiant dictators won't work.
There were many reasons why we went to war, and many reasons why there wasn't much of a choice. Anyone arguing simple answers on either side is making a political statement and not analyzing the situation.

The problem with this line of reasoning is that if every nation followed through with it we'd all be herding two-headed cows a year from now. Going from there, it would have been the only security-ensuring course of action for France and Germany to go to war with the US over Iraq to counteract US defiance on the matter, without even getting into China or Russia.

That's just stupid. And there's no such thing as a "depleted uranium bomb."
Minimal Security is about as bad as psychotic left-wingers get, expressing opinions through poorly drawn mediums as: all rich people should die, electricity and cars are evil, it's better to kill a person than a plant, it's not right to wash since shampoo and stuff might have been tested on animals.
ITS DEPLETED URANIUM PEOPLE! They call it depleted uranium because its no longer radioactive.
