I need a new PS2 game. What's out now that's good?

I already have Guitar Hero and God of War and Dragon Quest 7 and Onimusha 4. Please to be recommending some cool stuff.

Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition

Katamari Damacy or the sequel

Disgaea 2 is coming out in a month if you feel like waiting.

Dirge of Cerberus is also coming out in a week or two, but a lot of people have been questioning that game's worth.

Would help to know what you've already played!

I mean, I could recommend FFX, having just beat it myself, but I'm sure you already have. ;o

Recent releases for the PS2? Not much good has come out within the past few months. Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, Shadow Hearts: From the New World, Suikoden V, and Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War are about it. Disgaea 2, Xenosaga III, and Yakuza are due out within the next month, and all three should prove to be at least worth a rental.

Smackdown vs. Raw is 15 bucks. SvR 2006 is like 40 still but apparantly it's a lot better.

Get yourself some Shadow of the Colossus. Short, but pretty, atmopsheric and intensely amusing.

Great game, but short.

It's a renter.

But if you haven't rented, you're definately missing out.

If you like racing games..
Any of the Burnout series (although 2 was the best in my opinion)

ha ha we warned you. But did you listen? NO!

You should get the Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver series if you haven't played them, Parce. The original Legacy of Kain was a first-round PSX game...and it hurts the brain to play it, frankly...so you can skip it. But Soul Reaver, Blood Omen, Soul Reaver 2, and Defiance make for a quite enjoyable arc and story. A lot of people, for whatever reason, didn't play them all. These days you can usually find the whole lot of them together for under sixty bucks if you farm the gaming stores' used game racks. Seriously good stuff, and often overlooked.

Gladius is kinda cool. It's not awe-inspiring, but it's a fun romp of a game. So is Psi-Ops.

The best part of the Kain series is in Defiance when Raziel tricked Kain into killing him because he had to die to do whatever but Kain refused to do it. It's been so long since I played the game that I forgot why he had to die. But it was awesome when that boss stood up after you kill him, and Kain stabs him in the chest with his soul reaver or whatever the sword was called, and the bosses changes into Raziel because he had inhabited his body to make Kain kill him.

I've played Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, and the second Legacy of Kain. I can't decide which of the two Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain's was better, but I know I found them both a helluva lot more fun that Soul Reaver.

Raziel willingly sacrificed himself for the following reasons: 1) So he would not be a deranged captive soul inside the Soul Reaver but a willing part of it. 2) After stabbing Moebius the Timestreamer's astral body with his wraith blade and seeing how Moebius reacted when he saw the Elder God for the monstriousity he really was Raziel knew he had to grant the same to Kain. 3) To complete his destiny, Raziel threw himself on the blade thus purifying the Soul Reaver, healing Kain of the gaping wound in his chest, and granting him sight to see the true enemy of Nosgoth, the Elder God.

There's Shinobi & its follow-up Nightshade. Great action games.

Short of that one flooded city level in Shinobi, I've never really had problems with pits. Looks like someone spent too much of his twitch nerve on Guilty Gear X2!

... which is fine, because you'd probably kick my ass. ;(

I played Shinobi. It did not impress, I fear to say.

I went out and got Ninja Gaiden Black and KotoR.

Hey...forgot about Ninja Gaiden Black when I bought my X-Box. I've heard good things about it. Your thoughts?

Haven't tried it yet. Just got back to my Xbox today and have been busy chatting up chatty aliens and chatty Carthses and solving gang wars.

ONE DAY AT A TIME.

I did play the original Ninja Gaiden and my sole grievance was that it was frequently too hard to enjoy (not hard as in challenging, but more like you never got past it without divine intervention, but I probably stink). Black has difficulty adjustments and new content to boot. It's only 20 smackers at Best Buy (and you might get it cheaper used) so why not try it?

I think it's the one reason I have an X-box...

I only have 3 games for it.

But yeah, it's hard as hell, but if you get good at it, it's a blast to play.
