But unfortunately there are occasionally odd beatings by assholes against completely innocent people. Heck, there was a student who was beaten so badly in Edinburgh University's George Square that he needed facial surgery. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

These things are usually done by low-income, low-educated people who had a bit too much to drink. I've often heard of this kind of people being labeled as a NEDs/NonEducated Delinquent in Scotland, but England has 'em too, I think called 'chavs'. Basically not unlike similar people and events in the US.

I think this is getting media attention solely because both people were attacked while wearing England soccer shirts. Random beatings have been a problem for police in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and especially Glasgow for a long time. This is nothing new really. Does that make Britain fucked up? Maybe, but the US has had plenty of similar stuff, football or soccer related or no.

This also reminds me of what's his face's pitch on Orcs in the new WarHammer MMO. Fuckin hooligans.

It'd be nice if these jerks that did it would get caught and punished, but it probably won't happen Feel sorry for the kid tho. Seriously messed up to smack a kid for wearing an opposing teams shirt.

I did see a bunch of neds, but it's not like they're hard to miss since most dress and behave alike...kinda the UK version of wiggers. The sort who will cuss you out twelve ways as you pass them on the street while waving the 40oz they have in their hand, if not outright threaten you. Charming. But thankfully generally avoidable.

But they're in England too...saw em in York and London.
