psp sucks
Unless there is like a wifi worms or gunbound on PSP or a port of FF7 it will suck for all time. DS Worms is not wifi so they still have a chance!
Until it's inevitably released as an extra with Metal Gear Solid 4: New Subtitle.

Some people have already rigged up HDD addons through the Pro Duo port.
It's not something people hear about.

And there is the monster 4gb HDD that you can buy third party. That makes the PSP freaking huge.

So, how much does it reduce battery time by?

ON the other side it has a big honkin' battery. But most games would fit perfectly fine on a 512 stick. Then you just need the hard drive space on your computer to swap them out. Alaan fucked around with this message on 06-11-2006 at 01:52 PM.

That works. Not exactly portable but what can you do.
Still fits in a cargo pants pocket fine. Some people like the hold you get with two bulges off the back as well.

I just checked NewEgg, and a 512 MB MemoryStick Pro is $35. If each stick is only going to hold roughly one game, we're talking about a $35 overhead for each game you buy, which isn't attractive.
So, my options are unsupported 3rd party hardware or a $35 overhead for every game that I buy?

Other than multidisc RPGs and some big games, most PS1 games didn't eat close to the entire CD. I could easily see multiple games per memory stick. Or catch a sale like I did and get a $15 1 gig. Alaan fucked around with this message on 06-11-2006 at 05:32 PM.

Or, you know, just not carry around every single game at the same time.

Its not like you cant use a couple of 512's or a single 1g and then just delete the games after you beat them.
Or uh, put them back on your hard drive.

I highly doubt people are putting the games on memory stick by a file transfer and not by making a copy.
Your deleting off of the stick, not off your home comp.

In FF Tactics, yes. A very good one.
In Tactics Advance, sorta. A very shitty one.
It's not something people hear about.

Clearly, the winner is Nintendo, for reasons that I don't care to disclose.
You know I'm really anything but a Nintento fanboy, but I have to admit they've done far better with the DS than Sony has with the PSP, especially now that HD based portable video players are fairly widespread. The PSP would be awesome if you could mod it easily without worrying about games mucking up your firmware, but Sony seems intent on breaking the best part of owning their console in a suicidal attempt to sell people UMD movies which cost more than DVDs at a fraction of the quality. The games on it are mostly worse versions of full console games I really would rather play cheaper and in better quality on a PC or PS2.
The DS has a set of original portable games which are actually made to be played on the go instead of being downsized versions of 'real' games. The stylus is something I'm sceptical towards, but having what is essentially a pointing device on a console, and a portable one at that, is quite a step forward for a bunch of generes.
Now if they only released a good chess sim for the DS I might even buy one as my first Nintendo console.

I haven't tried it, but DSChess is a homebrew chess game has touchscreen support. There's emulated games from prior games that you could play too, but they wouldn't have stylus support obviously.

I agree. Although some of the PS3 interactivity looks cool, the DS is just plain more fun, and most of you out there would sooner cut out your own spleens with a rusty wooden mallet than buy a PS3 anyway.
I would have liked to see the PSP do more dynamic, PDA-like shit but it just didn't happen. Maybe with PS3 sales propping it up, it'll see more action though. Who knows.
let's see your PSP do that boys
