You can go pre-order it from your local whatever if you want. I almost did, but I've been so "blah" over the last couple FF games.

I'll probably get XII anyway, in hopes of it being something good. I've never really taken the time to sit down and play a good RPG anymore. But then again, the RPGs I've been sitting down to play haven't been amazing like 7 was, once upon a time.

I really don't like these over-the-top hollywood action type trailers. This didn't sell me the game, it just made me confused. It doesn't tell me anything about the characters, world, conflict or gameplay. It's more like tech demo than anything.

Who is that woman? Why is she shooting people? Who are those armored guys? Why are there so many trains?

To me, it's just a woman with gunz except this one is called Final Fantasy XIII. I'm still looking forward to FFXII, but this one isn't catching my interest.

There was a signature here... it's gone now.

Speak for yourself. The push for photorealistic graphics is only forcing the need for bigger and bigger graphics budgets. I'd rather a game has good art direction, even if it isn't photorealistic (see Okami for example).

I swear, you've lost the fucking ability to read. Why are you still here? The graphics of next gen aren't really impressive. They look exactly the fucking same as games that were around last year. Every generation people drool over cutscenes, wishing that the ingame graphics reach thier level of detail, and every year they do. It has nothing to do with the Wii, your vendetta against Nintendo is becoming rather annoying. Graphics are begining to peak in how great they can be, and to me, these newer games look exactly the same as things we've been seeing for a while now.

Speaking of losing the ability to read, the fact that what you're saying about cutscenes is exactly wrong has been one of the main points brought up in this thread. Did you even watch the trailer?

You certainly don't speak as if you have, but that's understandable in your case because it takes a second to find it after you click that link and you're only concerned with games that involve a motion-sensing paddle anyways, so you just dropped into the thread to pooh-pooh all over everybody who dared get excited over a non-nintendo release.

In response to the other, more rational posters - why am I making so many Nintendo posts lately? Because people are making so many Nintendo threads lately, and I just happen to have an opinion on the matter. Real quick let's make a roster of all the negative or critical things I've said about the Wii:

  • If it's a cheap $250 system, the graphics probably won't turn out to be nearly as good as the higher priced hardware. I concede that it's possible that Nintendo might have discovered some miracle pie-in-the-sky graphics techology that makes ultra-high-end visuals possible on only $250 worth of hardware, but I also concede that it's possible for the late Jimmy Hoffa to win the 2008 presidential election.

  • $600 is acutally a reasonable price to charge for technology capable of high-end graphics. I find it incredible that people who think it's a cool idea to blow $600 on an SLI setup for their PC's balk at the notion of spending the same amount of money for a complete machine capable of the same visuals or better.

  • FPS's really aren't any better with a motion sensor than they are with an analog stick and are probably a lot worse. Not exactly an anti-Wii comment but I'm sure a lot of people took it that way so I'll list it here.

  • The majority of the good non-nintendo, non-multiplatform games are going to be on the PS3.

  • Skaw just loves opening his arguments with laughable ad hominem attacks.

And... that's all the ones I can remember actively defending in conversation.

So if by "The Next Duckstick" you mean to say something that I discuss realistically and am probably right about but flamed for bringing up in conversation anyway, then yes you could certainly say that yes, the Wii is another "Duckstick"

  • Yeah and you tried to say it was only hardware that mattered on the Cube as well, and that for its price and lower cycle numbers it would fall behind. This was proved false, time and time again... Over and over. Nintendo's compression methods alone took care of most of this issue.

  • People doing that aren't generally just using thier PC for gaming, plus there are other benefits. This also ignores the fact of customization, and viability in the long term. This argument doesn't really apply.
