I hate streaming media. Well for the most part anyway.
And gawd damnit I hate fucking Quicktime. What is with that shit. Once you have it you can't get rid of it, and people still use it. Fucking thing keeps loading itself on start up, even after you set it to "Not Load on Startup", even if you remove it from msconfig, the very next time you use it, it will set itself to load on startup. Piece of shit apple software.
I hope I got the url right, if not I'll change it when I'm back home.

I think the main problem is that it loads that ridiculous and utterly useless taskbar agent that can't be gotten rid of without uninstalling quicktime.

I know there's one for Realplayer, but I could swear there's also one for Quicktime... and if there isn't, there should be.

Khyron had this to say about (_|_):
Isn't there a program that installs a Quicktime Codec, allowing you to play QT movies using Windows Media Player/WinAMP/whatever your default player is?I know there's one for Realplayer, but I could swear there's also one for Quicktime... and if there isn't, there should be.
There is, and I've used it, but Apple has this nasty habit of updating thier authoring software (Not the player) so the codec quits working for a while with that Wonderful message of "You need the lastest version of quicktime" even though the actual player version hasn't changed, just the authoring.
And yes, I like having complete control over my PC and I find the little tasktray icon invasive and annoying with the other taskmanager tools I have up and running. I SHOULD be able to permanently disable it. It also runs that annoying startup splash screen occasionally even if I don't use the player that says "Do you want to upgrade to Quicktime Pro Now/Later/Etc" whenever my PC starts up so yeah, I get a little annoyed. Nice stab there though Fal. I don't have anything inherantly against Apple anyway, I just hate the design implementation of that software. So, good one. or get over it
I mean, if you reboot 30 or 40 times a day, I might be able to understand.
And you don't have anything against Apple? Your comment seemed like you did -- could have just said "piece of shit software" or some such. Falaanla Marr fucked around with this message on 02-06-2006 at 01:49 AM.

In the Notification area.. area, hit customize.
Scroll to the appropriate item. Under behavior, choose "Always Hide."
If it still bothers you after this then nothing can help you and you'll probably find another reason to bitch anyhow.

I like RealAlt because it installs the RA/RM codec so I can view it in WMP I wish I could get something like it for Quicktime, but it doesn't bother me all THAT much. The player itself bothers me more than the icon does
