The general personality of these boards doesn't encourage anyone but oldest/most popular posters to post. Anything not of the very highest quality of wit (by this board's standards, not always easy to discern) is met with little beyond acerbic repartee and a crap vote.

I will say though, that I think too much bashing is going on and it isn't needed. A good example is talking about MMOs. If you aren't talking about World of Warcraft, you can expect to see a few people bash the thread before it slips off the front page.
