Super is easily my second favorite though. If they updated it, it would top Fusion.
It's not something people hear about.

That's why I like Zero mission. Same updated controls and graphics, but is a complete retelling of the NES version with stuff tacked on at the end.
The only thing Super Metroid has going against, really, are the controls. They're great, but I guess they do show their age.
It seems like, at least to me, with Super Metroid they tried to give every single button on the controller something to do, even the fucking Select button. The GBA games have better controls and use fewer buttons. Super Metroid had the capacity to have the best controls in the series, but didn't.
[Edit: Oh yeah, Zero Mission also had the "Metal Gear Samus" sequence, which I really liked a lot.] Densetsu fucked around with this message on 11-13-2005 at 11:13 PM.

YES!

Suddar had this to say about Jimmy Carter:
Super Metroid. This is pretty much no contest.
All of the gamecube metroids have been metroid-flavored puzzle FPS's without too much depth or exploration factor.
I'd have to say the SNES metroid was the last true metroid. Maradon! fucked around with this message on 11-15-2005 at 05:35 AM.
This isn't to say you couldn't say Super Metroid is the last metroid game you really enjoyed, or your favorate metroid game, or whatever.

I don't see how the second game in a series of 9 or 10 games could be the "last true metroid". A series is defined by the majority of its content.
Easy: Metroid was a highly distinct platformer. After the second game, each following game either totally lacked the distinctive traits of the series, or were direct ports of one of the first two games.

I'm with Maradon on this one. Though someone said Super Metroid was the second game? I'd almost swear it was the third one with a second being on Gameboy or something.
Yeah, as I recall the first gameboy Metroid was released before Super Metroid.
The intro cinema for Super Metroid included the ending scenes from the gameboy metroid. Maradon! fucked around with this message on 11-16-2005 at 12:54 AM.

Mr. Gainsborough had this to say about dark elf butts:
What is your favorite Metroid game?
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Seriously, Castlevania took the Metroid idea, and did it better than Metroid did. And we loved it!
Of the actual Metroid games, I would have to say Super Metroid. Gotta love the cheap way to beat the water boss.
