I think it was the whole "from the creator of Buffy" that put me off, because Buffy is a pile of steaming shit.

I don't get Buffy either. It's like a cross section of the worst parts of those AOL Role-Playing chat rooms. "ono i aem now prgnant with the childz of a a half-demon but he is also kewt and i loev him still i must fight the vampirez even tho i died but am back now and i am only half vampire with all the strenths and no weaknes but stil my sole is in tormented agony".
Yet somehow there's a massive throng adorers who think it is (this is a quote) "one of the greatest series in broadcast history". For that reason I forced myself to watch an entire season of it. And for THAT reason I attempted to slit my wrists and bleed the Buffy out of me.
I may go see Serenity just because it looks to be an atleast half-way decent sci-fi movie, however. Waiting for reviews from people I know aren't Firefly fans at all. Father McKenzie fucked around with this message on 09-30-2005 at 09:48 PM.

Best post ever.
As for Serenity...I haven't foggiest notion of what it is and I've no money, so I won't be seeing it.

Firefly was the best of his shows in my opinion. A combination of the wild west and space opera.. with witty one-liners and characters that you can care about.
The movie was a good film, but I left it feeling slightly depressed. The dialogue was awesome as always, the fighting and space battle scenes were amazing, but I was disappointed with some of the story.
Mostly I hated that they killed off Wash. The first thing that popped in my mind was they did him in exactly the same way that Trinity was killed off in the last Matrix film. He got them where they needed to go, then they impale him. It made me so sad, and I couldn't rise out of that sadness even though they ended up winning. Killing Shepard was understandable. It was an awesome death scene too. I just didn't see any reason to kill Wash.

Yea, that's the part that I didn't want to ruin. If you think about it though it was almost nescisarry for it to happen. Them running the entire ravager blockage and not losing anyone would seem a bit extreme to me. Also the way they shocked you with his death by breaking him off in the middle of a one liner was fairly shocking. Overall I wish they wouldn't have done it because that means he won't be in any sequals they decide to do.

I know, but I'm morally opposed to spoiler text. So if you are still reading this far and havn't seen the movie... The Alliance created the Ravagers.

I agree with this. I went in happy, loved it, was excited and enjoying every moment (Little sad over Book dying, I honestly didn't think they'd kill a main character like that... even if he wasn't a main character in the movie, he was in the series), but then they went and killed Wash too, and I just can't see Firefly/Serenity without him. It just won't ever be the same if they ever make more

Supposedly, the goal they're shooting for is 50k before they consider a sequel. It made 10k on friday and saturday.
It only made ten thousand dollars at the box office?
Two thousand people went to see that movie?
It's not something people hear about.
And Wash died because he ASKED WHEDON to write his character out or he wouldn't have signed on for the movie. Keep in mind the series is over 3 years old. Some of those people have other careers now to think about. Alan Tudyk is on Broadway in Spamalot, for instance, and making other movies.

Anyone who thinks this must have been too young to remember how horrible it was. The movie was at least as terrible as the show, even without the presence of wiccans and lesbians.
