Edit: But once I went to new.nationalgeographic.com manually and clicked the story, the link works. I blame Parcelan.

Great maybe they can figure out how to overfish It too! At Least the Japanese are owning up to decimating the Bluefin Tuna's.

I wouldn't risk eating the meat of something that has ammonia-based blood.

Never mind, I see that is it something that is related to Giant Squid, not all Squid.

Besides most Squids I know have seem to have alcohol based blood

Giant Squid are ammonia-based. It's what keeps them bouyant because of their size. Alcohol would cause them to sink, since I believe it's almost equally as dense as seawater.

Considering the Japanese eat poisonous blowfish(Fugu), I dont think your opinion is what matters in what the sushi restaurants sell, neh?

Well, considering how they don't sell the poisonous part of the fish and that part is regarded as tasting good. I'm not sure that tissue fed by blood with a high ammonia content would be very tasty.

Not to mention that very, very few restaurants actually have any fugu. The chefs who can prepare know what they're doing.

No, see the edited post of mine, the ammonia-based blood is unique to the Giant/Colossal squid, I imagine the only things that eat them like the Sperm Whales are adapted to handle all the Ammonia, you really don't want to eat any of this stuff.
Smaller species of squid are fine though, and they do have squid sushi (Ika I think it is), and I can name some spots along the Jersey shore here that have some bitching fried squid (Vic’s in Belmar for one).

I'm fairly certain that the squid eat the whales, not the other way around.

If you read the article, they say many giant squid specimens are found in the bellies of sperm whales.

As big as these things are, they still are not really as big as a whale. A whale weighs what, like 40 tons? The squid might be like, 2-3 tons? The squid may be the length of a bus, but the whale is the bus.

And how many squid have been caught to see the amount of blow holes in their guts, huh?

Only a top notch blowhole count will settle this arguement!
