Most Lovecraft scholars agree that the most correct pronounciation is "Ktloo-loo," with heavy de-emphasis on the 't' in the first syllable. To get it all out, you have to cluck your tongue as you say the 'k' and you form the 'l' as a consequence.

That's almost as bizarre as some of the strange set-ups for imitating Chinese I've seen--where on earth do they get the extra "l" sound? "Ktoo-loo," I could buy, but not with an extra "l" sound.
