So I've got a gen 1 PS2, and i've got a few questions about it. I've got a multi-tap and it doesn't work with the system, is this something wrong with gen 1s or is it just my system (it works with my other PS2 which is a bit newer just tends to not read discs)?

If memory serves there's a firmware difference between the first couple of PS2 generations and the more recent builds... might check that.

If you buy a DVD remote, it will come with a firmware update that should allow you to use the multitap.
I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

I'll add an experience I had a while back where my older PS2 multitap wouldn't fit into the slimmer version. I unscrewed the connector part and separated the top memory card spot from the controller port underneath, then slid them both in. I had to stretch the lower wires somewhat, so they weren't in the black rubber stuff anymore, but in the end it did work. I'd use it as a last ditch effort if you would throw it away otherwise or something.

Make sure you have a PS2 multi-tap. The PS1 multi-taps don't work on the PS2 consoles.
