Nicole, as usual, is being too much of a martyr to post, so in her absence, I appeal to the endless wisdom of the boards for aid.

Very simple, yet extremely annoying: every time she hits the shift key (either of them), her computer beeps. This makes typing irritating. Contrary to what I expected, no other keys are depressed, nor is the computer losing any of her input. The usual methods (reboot, unplugging the keyboard, etc.) haven't worked, it's a regular keyboard so there are no new drivers to download, and there are no other PC keyboards to plug in within the house.

Lost cause?

Control Panel - Accessibility Settings - Turn the third checkbox down off (should be labeled something like "status signal").

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

Her computer is ticklish around the shift keys.

Workaround: Unplug the system speaker. It's just annoying in any case.
