*why*? This seems like a worse decision than airing Kenshin during Toonami to me.
But still.
It's not something people hear about.

That's just it... Do you think they can get away with showing EoE even during AS in a non-fucked up state?
The TV series, sure. But what about the movie? They're claiming a "complete" run and the movie is a bit beyond anything I've ever seen them show on AS. Hell, they've censored parts of Lupin (minor nudity/boob display)

I'm sure they can if they show it after 1pm like Comedy Central does with its Secret Stash line-up.

NGE to be shown on CartoonNetwork
*why*? This seems like a worse decision than airing Kenshin during Toonami to me.
I recall it was shown at least twice in the past 18 months on Cartoon Network in Australia (and neither of those times wasduring either Adult Swim or Toonami), and there was no significant editting...
.. Then again, we are liberal enough to allow the use of a vast majority of cuss words, nudity, and various other themes on our TV and radio that are highly restricted in the US, so could be that we were lucky in that respect.
My only question is "Why are you so concerned it is going to be on Cartoon Network, complete with possible editting and (more importantly to me) introduced advert breaks, when you can but the series on DVD relatively cheaply and enjoy it in it's pure, unadulterated state?"
Also, Cartoon Network is no longer AS (different networks now, like Nickolodeon and Nick at Nite) so if they say it's going CN that means it won't be the same network as AS...

I was under the impression that they were the same company, but according to the neilson ratings, were seperated (For $$$ reasons to bolster [AS])?

This has been the first plausable responce I've seen in this thread.
Cav: I can watch it any time I feel like on VHS. I'm well aware of this option. Eva isn't something that should be shown to kids. If we're going to drag up older (and bad in some respects) anime and show it to kids... Let's go for Fist of the North Star. Something that's so over the top violent it can't help but be amusingly bad.
There are things that are for children, there are things that are for adults and there are things that are for everyone. I wouldn't classify Eva as being for anything anymore.
More to the point, though, Eva is a complicated intertwining as it is. Cut a scene here or there and it wouldn't make the least bit of sense. Or as Mr Scott put it in Star Trek III: "The more complicated the piping, the easier it is to gum it up"

I mean, Big O didn't make a DAMN bit of sense to me, but I also know I was catching it in the middle so the groundwork was missing, I had nothing to build understanding on and overall the series was a major loss as far as I was concerned. Big O would have made FAR MORE SENSE than Eva would given the same circumstances.
"That show has warped my fragile little mind."

Naimah had this to say about the Spice Girls:
Evangelon is crap. That is all I have to say.
I agree. Its ending alone is the second worst I've ever seen in a "popular" series, right behind Berserk. Scratch that, its the worst. You can stop watching Berserk a couple episodes early, treating that as the ending, and have a a perfect ending for a series. Please don't say you can balance that out by watching the movie to explain Evangelion. That wasn't much better, and a movie should enhance the series, not finish it.
I digress though; Evangelion is overrated crap. The dub of Macross done by ADV mentioned in the link would be a far better series to show.

Same parent company, 2 different broadcasting standards.
Plus Williams Street(Adult Swim) is in a seperate building)

Yeah One-Piece is more suitable for kids than I'd say Kenshin was. And they're both more suitable than Eva was. First time you see the bloodspray from an Eva and how it affects the pilot and it's gone too far for even most Adult Swim shows.More to the point, though, Eva is a complicated intertwining as it is. Cut a scene here or there and it wouldn't make the least bit of sense. Or as Mr Scott put it in Star Trek III: "The more complicated the piping, the easier it is to gum it up"
The thing is, Deth. One Peice wasn't meant for kids. It's one of the most horribly butchered series to come from Japan. Even so far as to edit Sanji's cigarrettes in to Lollipops(wtf?).

Except that won't be ready for quite a while, and honestly, I don't think it would do well except with 'older' anime fans. Robotech kinda sealed that fate, IMO.
Shush. I want the fake reality where decent anime is shown and kids learn where the mecha genre came from. (Ok, so its not the first... blah blah blah) Talonus fucked around with this message on 07-03-2005 at 09:13 PM.

From the outside it doesn't seem like it. The building's labelled TBS, TNT, CN, AS, TCM and Turner South. It's pretty big.
It's not something people hear about.

You can stop a few episodes early, especially if you only want to deal with the anime. You could also read the manga, which is more cohesive throughout.
The reason that the Berserk ending is so atrocious is that it's not ending at all, in the manga. It's a shift in the story, but never meant to be a conclusion at all. Also, there's the behelits and demons appearing a little more in the course of the manga, so there's less of a "What happened to the war story plotline and what is this?!" sensation to it.
And the manga actually continues past it, for a good ways; it's still running.

I know Berserk didn't really have the intended ending. That's why I think I tell people who are new to the series to stop when Guts/Gatts/Gattsu leaves. I've read a large part of the manga, and still grab The Hawks' translations when I have time. Its one of the few series I've ever read gone and read the manga because it interested me so much. (I hate reading mangas. Yes, I am a heathen.) Most folks don't know this though, so the ending leaves them hanging.

This is why you need to learn Japanese and buy your own cheap-ass imports, or else rely on fansubs by the few groups who don't suck.

Dunno what you call cheap-ass. $40, not including shipping, for 3 episodes/DVD isn't exactly cheap.
Japan is one of the worst countries to buy DVDs from.
If you mean illegal bootleg hk copies, why not just download fansubs?
