Over the past 5 days, I've been trying to troubleshoot what's going on with my system. First the video started fuxing up - I assumed it was a video card issue. Go get a new card, only to find out that now the motherboard won't power on.

I call up ASUS, they have me remove the CPU from the motherboard - lo and behold, it powers on. Doesn't work without a CPU, but it powers up and stays up. So I go get a brand-new CPU from Best Buy. I go install it, turn on the system, and boom. Won't power on. Call ASUS back, explain what happened.

ASUS thinks it's the board, so they offer to send me a new one. It'll only take 2-3 weeks to get here. I'm not that patient. So I'm just gonna get a new one 2-day'ed to me from Newegg.

Anyone out there wanna buy a good, high-quality motherboard (At a considerable discount, of course) when the new one arrives in 2 weeks?

Sounds like it might be a power issue

It might be, but then why would the system power up with no CPU inserted into the motherboard?

I had a similar problem when I was trying to get an FX-51 when they first came out. Went through three sets of mobo/proc combinations before I gave up and just got my money back.

That's what I said in his original thread, it definately sounds like a power issue.

What's the model of your (soon to be) old board?

That would be pretty cool.

Let me know when you find the cheat code for real life that gives you infinite money. Then maybe I can stop working for mine.

I might actually be really interested in this...I've been having a problem where my computer abruptly shuts itself off in the middle of turning on, and it usually takes something like 10-15 minutes of trying before I can get it to successfully turn on. The problem appears to be in the motherboard, and since I can't get a new computer for college this might be a good idea...

NetBurst?

Any Intel processor based on the original Pentium 4 - P4, newer Xeon's, newer Celeron's, current revisions of Pentium D's. Intel's roadmaps suggest that they will soon be abandoning this line of processors in favor of ones based on the Pentium M, which are somewhat closer to the Athlon 64 in terms of how it is designed.

I was more partial to the term, "Furnace" than NetBurst, myself.
