She refused a lawful order by an officer. He could have either been dragged out of the car or Tazered. I thin either option is valid.

Sorry but this is a case of stupid bitch who should have listened in the first place. If you watch the video when they first pull her over she
1: Opened the door which is stupid unless the officer asks you too
2: mouthed off to him and tried to tell him what he could and could not do
and
3: Then ignored him and talked on the phone.

As a side note I have been hit by one of those things (yeah me and my friends are stupid sometimes). They hurt like a bitch but are not near as bad as this woman makes it out to be.
Also any officer(In Indiana at least) That carried one, first has to be hit by one so they know what they are capable of.

Jesus, she just wouldn't shut up.

Normally I'm wary about this kind of thing, but this chick was being pretty moronic. Not only was she disobeying a police officer, she was pretty confrontational. Then she drama'd it up by screaming for two minutes.

And they claimed that she tried to hit one of them, but it's not really clear in the video.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

Actually, watch the other videos. He stopped her, got her id and everything, then asked her to get out of the vehicle. Based on the way the stop went, I'm guessing that she had warrants for her arrest, and that is why he was having her get out of the vehicle.

It wasn't quick at all.

Watch all the segments from the first to the last.

She started out indignant and verbally abusive.

Refused an order to put down her phone.

Continued to be verbally abusive and indignant.

Again refused to put away the phone and continued talking.

Struck out at an officer when he tried to remove her phone.

Refused demands to comply.

Disobeyed direct orders ahain to put the phone down and step out of the vehicile. Not once, but four times over a period. (Technically 5 times if you count the time she interuppted him mid demand)

Was eventually tasered after a siginificant amount of time and indignation.

Continued with her drama, and continued to disobey orders.

Was again verbally abusive, throwing in the "You a racist" thing for the 3rd time.

Was tasered again, and continued with her drama queen act.

Quite a bit of time, and much much indignation, disobedience, and downright hostile behaviour passed before she was eventually tasered. He was a very patient officer.

They were pulling her over for doing 51mph in a 35 zone. Not to mention talking on the mobile. God damn I hate drivers who do that...

The correct response is a hefty fine and a suspended licence. Although she got that, as well as being tased and arrested. A good solid tasing is for if she pulled a knife or something, as an alternative to shooting her. Not because she was giving the officer some good ole' American sass.

[Edit: And yes, I did watch the whole thing.]

Yes, however you'll notice that he didn't ask her to exit the vehicle until after he took her license back to his car. During this time I am 99% sure he was running her for active warrants, as is standard procedure for almost every police agency during a traffic stop. Once a warrant comes back and is confirmed, then the driver is taken out of the vehicle and arrested.

No, sorry. The entire point of non-lethal force is to prevent exactly the situation you're describing from ever happening in the first place. If you wait for a perp to attack you first, you open the door to people dying unnesscessarily.

The officer was 100% entirely correct in his actions. You use non-lethal force when a subject becomes aggrivated and uncooperative. It would have been careless and sloppy of him to wait for her to pull a weapon.

Wrong.

She was arrested and told to leave the car because her license had ALREADY been suspended, and I suspect other violations as well. Otherwise she would have just gotten a fine.

Which you'll note, she refused to accept as well. Getting a ticket that is.

What were the officers alternatives to the tasing? Getting in the vehicle and forcibly removing her? Beating her into submission? Cuffing her and taking her down from within the vehicle? All of which are more dangerous to both the officer AND the perp than a tasing. She was directly refusing being removed from her vehicle, hell... She wouldn't even put down her PHONE. She had to be removed from her vehicle somehow. And the duration of the entire stop from start to finish was very long. It wasn't like they just jumped the gun.

I'm sorry, there is really no defence you could provide to this woman to spare her what she recieved, or to likewise condem the officers involved.

From the sound of it, her license had already been suspended. Meaning that she was driving without a license. That's in addition to speeding, talking on the phone while driving, resisting arrest, assaulting an officer (not much of an assault, but still...), etc.

Wouldn't removing a drunk, resisting, drugged or otherwise potentially dangerous person from a vehicle be one of the standard arrest situations highway police have to deal with? If tasering the suspect was the usual way of doing this we wouldn't be hearing about this case.

Also a taser is not harmless, it's usually not lethal but if you catch a person whose cardio-vascular or respiratory system happens to not be up to snuff with it, it can be, it should be seen as a replacement for a gunshot, not an all-purpose pacifier.
