It looks like a combination of Link to the Past, OoT, Wind Waker, and a hell of a lot of Fable.
Adult Link, as per usual, looks like a sex god, but...I'm afraid to form an opinion

How is not wanting to turn into a wolf irrelevant? Didn't you watch the video? Apparently for a significant portion of the game, you are forced to move about in wolf form! I mean, I'll still play, but it is something that I do not find decent.

So why didn't you just say that in your first post, like so

"I'd really love to suck Link's massive cock, but I really don't like the idea of having to play a wolf"

This way you avoid a second random post which seemed more mockery and bad joke than anything like a real opinion

Well, it's a whole world better than Wind Wanker, but the animations appear to be comically rapid and poorly done - IE link draws his sword via a 0.002 second animation during which the only polygons in his entire body that move are those in his arm.

I didn't say I hated it, it looks awesome, it just looks like they're trying to shoehorn comic WW-style animations into a realistic game.

Sometimes shortening animations is unavoidable for gameplay reasons, for a prime example of animation length being more of a gameplay factor than an aestethic one just look at the various 2d Street Fighter games. I.e. if Link has to draw his sword rapidly in response to enemies popping out of the ground or whatever it would be a major pain in the ass to have him do a 1.5 second animation every time.

Mod fucked around with this message on 05-19-2005 at 12:40 PM.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

That's understandable, but first off this is an E3 demo, it's supposed to be impressive, not functional.

Second, that's not really what I'm getting at. The animations aren't just comically rapid, they're also poorly done. No human being on this earth can draw a sword or lift and blow on a horn without moving a single muscle in his entire body that isn't 100% nesscessary to the action one iota. Every MGS game, and even all the DMC games all had far more expressive animations. This lack of detail gives me the impression that they're still shooting for a cartooney, silly animation style game.

Perhaps it's something to do with speed vs. reality for the sake of responding to threats faster.
Perhaps people have bitched before on, say, how long it takes Link to switch weapons in OoT.

It can be fast and still move realistically.

I agree, but you know some people...
It's like how much people bitch over reloading times in games like Halo. It would actually be more realistic if it took even longer, but god forbid their arguments should make sense.

I don't know, I'd rather have a blend of the two. It's annoying and unsettling if the weapon just magically appears in his hand, but at the same time, if I have fifty skullchildren about to skullfuck me(haha pun), I'm not going to be happy if I have to wade through five or six seconds of unstring the bow, put it away in the pack, tie the straps, put the unused arrow in the quiver, undo the straps for the sword, pull the sword from its sheath, change my grip on the hilt, etc...
It sounds like I'm exaggerating, but that's really what he would have to do to make it utterly realistic.
Gamers are so critical Just be happy at how many advancements HAVE been made. I am.

No, you're quite wrong. This has nothing to do with anything that anybody would ever complain over. This has nothing to do with the speed at which you switch weapons. This has to do with the style of animation and nothing else.

There are scores of games where characters realistically, quickly ready their weapons. This is not one of them.

You're talking about the realism of weapon drawing speed. He's talking about the quality of the weapon drawing animation.
