First off, Yoko Kanno is not a singer. She is a Japanese composer, hired to develope soundtracks for some of the biggest projects out there. She did Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, etc. She also works on smaller stuff, and does just as fantastically at that as she does to everything else. That cute, nonsensical theme that plays whenever Ed comes around? She did that. That gorgeous song, "Is It Real?" from Stand Alone Complex (the one I'm going to sing at AX, *happiness*)? Yep, that one too. Overall, she's just a musical talent that I don't think any sane person would willingly dislike.
Anyway, enough adoration...I have a lot of her songs already, but I'm always looking to expand my Yoko Kanno collection. Also, if anyone knows of a CD that has her music I could buy, if I could, that would also be great. And...that's about it.

Vorbis had this to say about Punky Brewster:

Who, exactly, are you telling me to PM?
Edit: And, I probably have all the songs anyway, but if you find out about it, I'd like to check just the same, please. Kait fucked around with this message on 04-21-2005 at 09:36 PM.
I like her Cowboy Bebop work a lot, but I think her work on Ghost in the Shell blows it out of the water. I haven't even seen the movie yet, but already I know all the songs by heart...hehe.

she uh, sorta has a point there, I fail to see how this isn't a perfectly valid general thread.
I have the Wolf's Rain Soundtrack CD, Ghost in the Shell: SAC soundtrack, and the Macross Plus soundtrack (2 CDs). I love her work.

Kait painfully thought these words up:
Who, exactly, are you telling me to PM?
Yoko Kanno, obv.

This one time, at Vorbis camp:
Yoko Kanno, obv.
You mean, you have her forum name? OMGWTFLOLBBQ gimme!!!!1!1!1!11!
And: Good job Palador, you are wise
I wish they'd make a collection of all her music, like they did of Ghibli's films.

Mr. Crabs stopped beating up furries long enough to write:
The female vocal version of "Rain" is Yoko Kanno's best work imo.
I didn't even know there was a female version! I must have it *gleaming eyes*

I believe that it was played in the Cowboy Bebop Episode "Ballad of Fallen Angels" when Spike goes into the church to fight Vicious. I think it's way better than the male vocal version.
Aw, but I like the male version
And: Have you seen the movie? Some of the instrumentals in it are amazing.

Rain (Female Vocal ver.)
I love you.
Have to wait till I get home from work, though. Will this day ever end? TT_TT
If my FTPing works I'll start uploading the albums first since they are the least had probably.
Edit: and thats a big "if" Alaan fucked around with this message on 04-21-2005 at 10:55 PM.

Much for YK. I have Brain Powerd OST, all the Bebop, Earth Girl Arjuna(albeit with bad/non-existing taggint), Escaflowne, GitS First and Second Gig stuff, Jin-Roh, and Wolf's Rain anime wise. Also have two albums non-anime. Song to Fly and 23 Ji no Ongaku. If my FTPing works I'll start uploading the albums first since they are the least had probably.
Edit: and thats a big "if"
I've been without FTP for so long, I've forgotten how to use it.
I heard she's doing the music for that new FFVII movie. Was that a lie?
Estuans interis, ira vehementi
And I'm pretty positive she has nothing to do with FF7 Advent Children.
FTP Status: 23 Ji no Ongaku is uploading. For now.

Yah, I have that one too.

I know about Yoko Kanno.I have the Wolf's Rain Soundtrack CD, Ghost in the Shell: SAC soundtrack, and the Macross Plus soundtrack (2 CDs). I love her work.
Must acquire Plus soundtracks. I have bits and pieces of both.
And I have the SAC and 2nd Gig soundtracks.

Plus shall be my next upload then!

Kait's unholy Backstreet Boys obsession manifested in:

Probably. That's the Great and Powerful Nobuo Uematsu's territory.
Kanno is one of my favorite composers, but unfortunately, she's behind John Williams, Nobuo Uematsu, and Yasunori Mitsuda.
