*looks at Burger*

I've been looking at getting myself a decent headset for raiding+lan parties and stuff. I don't need something that sounds exceptionally good, as I'm hard of hearing anyway... So my most important criteria are these: They need to be comfortable (preferably closed), and not too expensive.

I was looking at two different ones, the Sennheiser PC150 and the Koss SB40. I'm leaning towards the former, but I have no idea where to look for it either offline or online. (Amazon.com doesn't ship electronics to Canada.)

So, I'd like to know whether either of those models are good, and, if possible, where I could obtain them.

Well, the problem with headphones like that is that they tend to be uncomfortably heavy. Also, if they don't fit right, the pressure on the top of your ear starts to hurt after a while. I usually just use speakers and a detached microphone on occasions where I need a mic, so I don't know too much. Whatever you do, don't invest in the kind that go in your ear--those things really start to HURT after a while.

The kind that go over your ear only hurt if you have big ears. Trust me, I've been wearing a pair of them for almost three years now, and when I position it wrong, my ear does hurt.

Aside from that, do not just get a microphone and use speakers. Nothing bothers me more on a raid (or in CS/NS) then hearing echo from some fuckwad who has to try to speak over me.

And any good headphones won't be overly heavy. In fact, you won't notice them at all.

To the point: Do you have a Circuit city/Staples/anythinglikethat in your area? If they don't have what you're looking for, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

...You do realize those are over-the-head headphones.

I like my HD650s but those are kinda in a different league then well, most anything. But if the quality in the 650s is any indication of the rest of sens line then I would recomend them.

I have the PC150s and they do indeed hurt my ears after awhile.

My sennheiser hd 500 + detached mic = though.

All headphones will hurt your ears after awhile. It is because you are listening to the two stero channels as mono as opposed to one composite channel. If you take the time you can get to where it is as big a problem.

Grado headphones are the best in the world.

Anyone who says otherwise seriously don't know their headphones.

Yeah, but I just meant for recording .wavs and stuff. I don't play any FPS's

The only problem is that you'll be hard pressed to find a decent sounding mic on a cheap set of headphones, and you'll have an even tougher time finding a decent set of cheap headphones with an integrated mic.

I'd suggest that you get either a small desktop mic, or a lapel mic, and then use whatever headphones you like. It's not as convenient, but each part will perform better than it's integrated counterpart, while maintaining the same total cost.

And mort, Grados are nice, but of late I've been REALLY enjoying my etymotic headphones.

Bite me.

No, Really. Bite me.

No, my actual ears =p

The 150s press your ears into your head instead of going around them like the hd500s.

Ah, hell, I'll just go for the SD150s. I just need to find somewhere that sells them around here... =x
