Erm, the bug being fixed is what tuned up the damage. It has be balanced downward actually. Addy was getting 1.2-1.5k crits on me with 2300ish AC using ambush. In bear form with 9kish AC she was still critting for 700ish damage. Backstab damages were about half that IIRC. That's quite high really, and will allow them to slaughter any cloth/leather user they get the jump on for the most part.

That's what I meant. The attack power bonus not scaling properly for ambush/backstab was a bug.. since it wasn't detected, they balanced the ambush/backstab damage accordingly. Since they fixed it, it's doing *way* too much damage. My mage GL was getting ambush critted for 2900 on test.. And he's exceedingly well equipped.
They DO realize this, and are proceeding to tone it down right now; Only real solution will be to either re-introduce the bug, scale down ambush/backstab percentile bonuses, or.. well, something.
Being able to garuntee a oneshot against a caster is severely overpowered.

I know very little about highend daggers, but apparently the "best" one for ambush/backstab crits is from a rogue soloable quest or something; the people who transferred to test where awesomesauce material.. the kind of people who farm onyxia/MC because they have nothing better to do and all that, I wouldn't be suprised if they have better.

That would be the barman's shanker (think that's what it's called), which rogues solo for fun. Technically it's better than felstriker, but I prefer my weapon combination more.
BTW Geeorn, that is a solid setup (30/21/0) for leveling. However, I'd go for something more like this, keeping the same basic setup:

When activated, increases the critical strike chance of your next Sinister Strike, Backstab, Ambush, or Eviscerate by 100%.
