Fans of Stargate would probably recognize the FN P90 as the weapon of choice on the show.
Many firearms enthusiast have been waiting for a chance to own one however they have only been produced in full auto versions. I just found out that they are going to start making a semi auto version. REtail looks to be around 1500-1700. Not to bad. I can't wait to get one

The armor piercing part would depend entirely on the ammunition used... But under normal use, no, they arent any more armor piercing than any other gun.

I wonder about that Magazine size.. If they can pass the P90 mags off legally, then I have a chance to pick up a Calico .22 someday... I've wanted one of those forever.. 100 round mag of .22

I wouldnt have to reload for MINUTES!!!

Any rifle is Armor piercing. Body armor works by distributing the energy over a wide distance from the point of impact. Any pointed object will cut right through this includes knives, letter openers, ice picks, and yes pointed bullets (rifle bullets generally) THe big deal about the 5.7 round that the p90 shoots is that it is small and pointed but at high velocity. Which means that it can shoot through a vest Even those with plates. Of course almost any rifle can do this, even 100 year old hunting rifles.

But this weapon is new and evil looking so it must be banned.

Hypothetically speaking, what would stop one?

The SS190 AP 5.7x28 rounds are restricted to LEO and military use. The SS192 and SS196 rounds aren't concidered armor piercing and are available for civilian sales.

As to the P90, I'd have to try one before spending that kind of money. I'm curious to see how it plays out, but I'm having visions of it being bastardized with a 16" barrel on it and that would completely ruin the effect.

For mobile protection, sure. But they don't make panic rooms out of ceramics, now do they?

A friend of mine already bought the Five-seveN.

I keep making fun of him, because he can't find ammo for it yet.
