Okay, Jan and Dymus, being horny little buggers, spawned not one brood of childlings, but two. The first one is comprised of Amaera, Vianemar, and Lanavar (who I've shown pictures of before). The second spawning resulted in Korasha and Kashaik.
These two kids, unlike their predecessors, are almost like distilled versions of their parents. Korasha here is a pirate...an up and coming pirate who may one day eclipse his father's infamy. This is the first concept pic I did. Had some nice traits, but meh...
This is the second concept pic...lost the facial hair, gave him a bandana, re-thought some of his attire. I liked a lot of this, but a pirate without facial hair just seems weird to me. Nice hair, though.
Third pic. I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean at the time, which is probably why he has echoes of Jack Sparrow. Go figure.
Here's Korasha as a kid; eventually I'll get around to adding in Kashaik.
And here is Kashaik as an adult...take everything about Jan, distill it, and that's Kash. She's loud, obnoxious, moody, rude, lives in the woods, rolls around in the dirt, and has a nasty tendency to beat people over the head with her hammer Bill (get Lyinar to explain why the hammer is named Bill) rather than work things out peacefully.
Okay I've mentioned several times alternate conceptualizations of the characters. There's an Arabian motif version of characters, etc. This is the Colin belonging "Evil Deth" and "Genie Lyinar". Unlike the reasonably good-natured, honorable "Prime" Colin, "Weapon Angel" Colin is a brutal battlefield commander, master of weapons and tactics, and she leads a force of golems constructed by Deth on loan to a nation that's sieging Jan's country.
Can't have Colin without her counterpart, Zumak. Prime Zumak was heavily altered to look relatively human. This Zumak is Colin's personal bodyguard, confidant, etc. She's secretly modifying him on the sly to have a more human appearance, but usually he's in battle mode. Who's the most badass evil robot around? Megatron. WarGolem Zumak's design is heavily inspired by Megatron.
Axalon (bonus points if you know where I got that name) is Colin and Zumak's son. In the "Prime" storyline, he's used chronomancy to come back in time to find a quiet place to create a lab (more on that in a minute. For the sake of this one, he's not a time traveler, and he's wholly organic. That's a suit of golem armor he's wearing. It was so much fun drawing something Transformers-style that I couldn't stop myself from doing it again. Originally he looked more like Scourge (Cyclonus from TF was supposed to look like a knight, Scourge was supposed to look like a wizard; Axalon is a wizard, there I explained it) but I said screw it and made him a big angry-looking guy in armor.
Okay, Axalon was conceived, born, and raised in the desert. Colin and Zumak headed into the desert of Rengir to sort out a faction of desert orcs who were wrongfully attacking peaceful settlers after being manipulated by Zumak's insane "brother" Icarus. In any case, Axalon was born out there, grew up out there, and eventually became a formidable wizard/shaman (he prefers the term "theurge"). He wears Moorish-style robes, headdress, etc. He's a big guy like his Dad (though not nearly as ripped), but he has definite Colin-like features (wild hair, elvish chin, mildly pointed ears, etc)
This is just a cheerful pic of Axalon hovering over his meditation cushions. I was pleased with how the body posture turned out.
I like the idea that wizards all have their own personalized staff. Gandalf did, so did Saruman. So do the wizards at Unseen University in the Discworld novels. A wizard's staff is an extension of who they are, and beyond whatever abilities it might have, the aesthetics say something about them. Vianemar's staff (which I showed last time) had definite traits. Deth's staff has definite traits, and Axalon's has definite traits. Note the hourglass.
Some of you know my character Chuckles. Chuckles and Calena (Lyinar's character) had two kids. Then Chuck manipulated things so Cal got preggers again. This time around, she had a full-on litter. Four boys (Canus, Cid, Cygnus, and Cirius) and one little girl (Ceryse). Ceryse looks mostly human, safe for canine claws, ears, doggy tail, and pronounced canine teeth. Cid here is the brawler in the bunch. Not sure I care for this pic, but the arm was nice and I was happy with the hand.
Cygnus, for those of you who don't know, is a lion. According to certain theology, Cygnus is a winged lion who guards the gate of Hell (sort of like Cerberus). Cygnus here got his name for two reasons: 1. He's got more hair than any of his brothers, and 2. It's really hard to come up with male names starting with C once you've used Charles and Cid.
Cygnus is the philosopher-swordsman of the bunch, and offsets Cid's ferocious temper.
Yes I know the "wolf" constellation is Sirius, but I took creative license. Each of the four brothers takes something from Chuck and tempers it with something from Calena. Cygnus is Chuck's philosophical side tempered with Calena's wisdom. Canus is Chuck's cunning with Cal's intelligence. Cid is Chuck's ferocious temper with Cal's passion. Cirius is Chuck's insanity combined with Calena's ability for lateral thinking. Cirius seems wholly unable to think in straight lines at times, and usually speaks in seemingly gibberish catch phrases you have to decipher the wisdom of. He's also fond of jury-rigging explosives.
A long time ago, I realized the reason Jan and Deth struck me as such interesting characters. There's a dichotomy to them. If Jan goes one way, Deth goes the opposite. If Deth agrees to something, Jan reflexively disagrees. When they were younger, their brother Jayzon mediated. These days Lyinar does. But the important thing is that Jan and Deth never consciously realize the dichotomy. What interests me is that it exists, and that if things had been ever so different, they could have been very different people.
Jan's favored son Lanavar embodies that fact. Lanavar was discouraged from being a Ranger by Jan. She pushed him to be a pirate like his Dad, but Lanavar didn't want to. He wanted to be a Ranger. So badly, in fact, that he created a second identity in part to put his mother at ease. Lanavar wouldn't get all beaten up; he made Quelith to disguise himself and use as a weapon against criminals. Well...Regina DeSantosille, Chancellor of Jesper (and a really evil supergenius) cracks the duality of his identity and tells his enemies. Made me think a lot about Lanavar. After the dust settles, he'd abandon Quelith, but he'd be very different. Lanavar wouldn't have to resort to Quelith if he wanted to bust heads for answers. This pic is a concept pic for the "new" Lanavar
Same basic idea, but I made the little shoulder cape thing look like feathers. Lanavar is big on Owls.
So Jan didn't want Lanavar being a warrior. She, in other words, didn't teach him to fight, or how to think tactically. And there's a limit to what he could have learned on his father's ship. He learned to be sneaky and whatnot from an assassin called Kaa, who practiced a form of snake-style martial arts. This was the first time Lanavar had to face the fact that he is in fact fully capable of killing...and he had to decide if he wanted to be an assassin. He didn't, but when his dual idenity is revealed, he has to rethink the path he made in life.
Lanavar as a ninja, from when he was training with Kaa.
Hagen was the first time Lanavar was forced to kill. A mysterious blackguard was offing Karandian intelligence operatives, and Lanavar was dispatched to identify the problem. Instead he bumped into Hagen, a former Berengali knight. At the peak of the battle, Lanavar jammed a flask of gnomish fire into Hagen's armor, lit it, and kicked Hagen off the top of a tower. The resulting explosion killed Hagen. Unfortunately, this brutal murderer wasn't in fact destined to remain dead. He turns up again when Quelith is revealed to be Lanavar. As you can see, he's gotten ugly.
Better pic of Hagen
Lanavar from EQ2
Another variant of Lanavar from EQ2
I love the pose in this one.
In the alternate universe where Deth is the half-dragon necromancer, Jan is a hunter of evil for her church. It was natural to dress her up like this and call her "Jan Helsing".
In the Arabian variant setting, Korasha is a sand pirate. I borrowed a lot of ideas for this pic from Bart in Xenogears, because Bart kicked ass.
Oooo angry. I liked the detail on the face here.
"Bolt" is one of my concepts of myself as a superhero. In this case, a Flash-style speedster. After seeing "The Incredibles" I had to ask why a more broad-framed guy couldn't be a speedster. This was the result of my tinkering. I like the way he looks.
This isn't safe for work. I've been fooling around with drawing some of Lyinar's characters in the buff or in lingerie, etc. This is Regina DeSantosille (mentioned above) dressed in lingerie and a big fur coat. I got her hair wrong, though. Ah well. Enjoy anyway Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael fucked around with this message on 02-28-2005 at 02:51 PM.

Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael probably says this to all the girls:
gya ha ha I hurt your connections.
That's ok, though. Good pictures! You certainly have a hearty cast of characters thought out.

JooJooFlop stumbled drunkenly to the keyboard and typed:
Ever get the urge to draw a thin, sickly little dude? Just for the sake of variety?
He should show you Alonzo sometime. Alonzo is thin and sickly
And yeah, Deth and I have a lot of pairs. Since we don't rp in public channels anymore, we have a lot of time to develop our own stories in our own settings. I play the girls, he plays the guys

Hey I drew the Maradon Manhugger. That's pretty thin and sickly. Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael fucked around with this message on 03-01-2005 at 08:16 AM.
