You might want to read this, one of my favorite Transformer stories. It will give you an idea how nasty Predaking is even without his weapons. Also has Grimlock in it.

Isn't Defensor that lame guy the Protectobots form?

Optimus > Grimlock > Starscream > Dinobots > Superion > Megatron > Devastator > Defensor

Faulty combiner technology.

Even the Autobot combiners suffer from it. Superion is almost self-destructive in his need for no one to die on his watch. Defensor has a problem thinking offensively, etc.

Ruination is the name of the five Decepticons from Robots in Disguise combined:

They are:

1. Armorhide - recolored Brawl
2. Rollbar - recolored Swindle
3. Mo-vor - recolored Blast-Off
4. Ro-Tor - recolored Vortex
5. Mega Octane - recolored Onslaught.

Scourge (Black Convoy in Japan) was their leader, though he did not merge with them. Valdigus/Vuldigus/Baldigus is his name in the Japanese Car Robots series - of which RiD was a translation.

The toys are the same, though the mold is almost 20 years old. Changes made from the original Combaticons are mainly the ability for all the team members weapons to join together to be used with Ruination/Valdigus. They (Ruination) have been released in winter and desert camoflague. I have the original Ruination and the winter camo... plus my original Bruticus. When I repaired my Vortex, I used parts from a Ro-Tor, even though now Vortex cannot hold his own gun - the weapon peg on Ro-Tor is larger, and I don't have a spare Ro-Tor gun.

I really wish they'd reissue the Combaticons one more time in their original colors (with the combining weapons) before the mold falls apart.

RiD and Armada sucked... but Ruination is a great name, and I liked the Scourge, Build Team and Rail Team models that came out of it. Can't recall their names off hand, but the first 3 Autobot cars that came out on that line (the SUV, Japanese Cop Car and the blue sports car) weren't bad either. Not many other toys from that line jump out at me though. (Well maybe the Megatron/Galvatron ones)

Speaking of the comics though; has another company got part of the Transformer license now? Last time I was in a store (can't afford to buy any for a few more months *grrr*) I saw a Transformer/GIJoe comic that wasn't the WWII era one Dreamwave did, nor the Marvel one. It wasn't done by Dreamwave that I could tell either.
