There was much rejoicing when Mike the Butcher said this:
Is there much difference between this and DDR?
Not too much.
DDR = Mainly Japanese music with more happy sounding dance/techno tracks (there's a bit of hardcore stuff though). Has arrows pointing up, down, left and right.
PIU = Mainly Korean music with more hardcore techno and rock tracks (but it does have some happy stuff in there). Has arrows pointing up-left, up-right, down-left, down-right, and a button in the center of the pad.
It's a great change for people who love DDR, but are getting a bit tired of it.

So is there some version that has rock and metal songs, like Mosh Mosh Revolution or something?
Stepmania.

Arcades have been "importing" them for awhile now. The game pointed out above is for the PS2 and Xbox.

You probably did. Arcades seem to jump at imported machines for DDR/PIU.

There's some decent rock and metal on the PIU that I played. For the most part that isn't really considered "dance" music, though. I want an 80's Hair Metal DDR. Hair Hair Revolution.

Suddar had this to say about Jimmy Carter:
How hard is it to adjust to PIU's pad when you're used to DDR's setup?
Well, I'm not exactly sure. I'm able to do almost all level 9s in DDR and a couple level 10s (Bag and Sakura) and when I first tried PIU it took maybe 10 to 20 songs to get to the equivalent of Standard level songs in it. I tried some harder ones though and I couldn't get used to it right away.
I see that as a good thing though because it'll take me time to master it.
Edit: So basically you get to skip all the boring level 1-4 shit of learning the basics and move on to the more upbeat stuff. But it still keeps a challenge. ^__^
Edit2: Everyone must buy this upcoming game because it has a song by Fin.K.L. on it. Mr. Gainsborough fucked around with this message on 02-15-2005 at 10:22 PM.
(I don't even count "I Feel...". That song is a joke.)

Sounds like a hoot

Suddar had this to say about John Romero:
Cool. Maybe by the time it comes out I'll be good at DDR and it'll keep things funky fresh. I can do 9's now! Well, most. On Max2, which I'm pretty sure has some easy 9's.(I don't even count "I Feel...". That song is a joke.)
Afronova = I don't like it. I can do it, but it hurts my fat self.
Break Down = Fun and fast.
Burning Heat = Fast and annoying.
I feel... = Toy Mix in Ultramix 2 is way better. Original is still good. Explain "a joke".
Kakumei = Easy. Awesome too. Classical.
MaxX Unlimited = Ow. Vise can do it IIRC.
rain of sorrow = This is too easy to be a level 9 imo.
So Deep = OH GOD OW. I did it once though.
Tsugaru = Easy, but great.
Twilight Zone =
Xenon = Techno zanyness!
Which ones can you do?

I can do Break Down, I Feel... (a joke because it's so easy. I like the song, but man), Kakumei, Tsugaru, Twilight Zone.... I can barely do Afronova. And End of the Century (which you forgot)...or, I have once, but it was probably a fluke.
Burning Heat I've done once too, but I don't really count it because I kind of cheesed the song at one point by exploiting my big feet. That song is (relatively) easy, it's just so fast paced that it tires you out. heh.
I can also do Paranoia KCET, which is a 9 in Max2. Apparently it wasn't in older versions, which may be why you omitted it. Still, it's worth mentioning. Suddar fucked around with this message on 02-15-2005 at 10:49 PM.

Oh, that's right. End of the Century IS a level 9 now. I'm a Konamix boy, I tells ya. (It was a level 8 back in the days of 5th mix.)
Oh, and Afronova isn't really a barely song anymore I guess. I pass that with a B too. Or I did twice in a row just now. End of the Century is still killing me 9 times out of 10. I don't see how that song could ever be an 8. Suddar fucked around with this message on 02-15-2005 at 11:23 PM.

End of the Century is soooooo fun though.
Believe it or not, Drop Out was a level 8 also.
