So where are the Epic games now? You know the ones I mean. The games that really drag you in and make you feel a part of the experience. You are saddened when the story goes bad and feel elation when Great acts of heroism happen. So where are the Homeworlds of today, the FF7s, The Wing commander and Freespace games. I have seen nothing recently even close to those. Am I missing something?

In my opinion, FFX started off rough, but by the end of the game, I felt I had a great deal of emotion invested into the story.
I'm really hoping FFXII lives up to FFX.

In my opinion, the more a game, movie, book, whatever makes you feel, no matter what that emotion is, the higher the value of it is.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

I think it's sort of a style thing. Right now action games seem to be a little more popular. It will go back to RPG eventually.

I'm not sure if there is really any shared story between Xenogears and Xenosaga (like you'll miss out on stuff in the one without playing the other.) But you're right..I need to go finish up Xenosaga first too!

I played about 4 hours of Xenogears at one point when I rented it. I wouldn't mind actually finishing it, even if it's unrelated.

Being a Malkavian in that game just bends it over and gives it a shafting. Parts that pissed me off before because I didn't have a high enough Seduction skill or Intimidation skill just fall before my demented mind.

I almost pissed myself over the long-lost turtle bit.

Xenogears is Xenosaga part 7. While you don't have to have played Xenogears to appreciate Xenosaga, you do miss out on some minor things like what exactly the Zohars are, who the little red-haired girl is, things like that. Xenogears is completely worth playing before Xenosaga, even if not necessary.

I sincerely hope that when it comes time to do Xenosaga 7, they overhaul Xenogears, but keep it exactly the same in story and mechanics. Updated graphics would really be all it needs.

[Edit: My memory's a bit rusty, but Xenogears might be part 5 instead, with a total of 7 parts. I do know that Xenogears isn't the final chapter, and that there are, I believe, supposed to be two more that follow it. Also, if you play Xenogears, you can get an insight into what future Xenosaga chapter might entail (like the 'Kim' era).

Final Fantasy 12 takes place in the world of FFX, two years after the game FFX takes place. Somehow Ivalice (The world of the Final Fantasy Tactics games) is merged with it. This means things previously only found in FFT games are in FF12, such as Bangaa and other races. (Hopefully classes too) The combat of the game isn't in FFT's style, but seems to continue being in the same trend of turn-based RPG's.

I watched a trailer for it here. (Click on the buttons marked 'Click' oddly enough) I now need a new change of underwear after watching it.

The BG series (not Dark Alliance, just the originals including their expansions) really pulled me in. Every battle I fought had me clutching my chair, hoping I would win. Then again, I'm a big DnD dork so RPG games really pull me in if they're like DnD. Though NWN didn't really do it for me. I didn't really care what happened to Aribeth or my character...
