And I actually like this movie quite a bit.

But here's my deal, watching them assimilate people actually makes me afraid...like, literally scared. It seems kind of irrational, but I can't imagine how horrible it must be to be assimilated.

Anyone else feel like this?

Couldn't be any worse then being infected with the T-virus, or the somethingsomething in Resident Evil 4.

If your afraid of being assimilated, stay away from AOL. I'm pretty sure they are trying to assimilate everyone, why else would they send thousands of those damned CDs to each household?

i really don't like what they did to the borg. i liked them when the were a one time enemy.

to me, the borg were the loss of self to society. they were perfect at it. the shared consciousness was great. they were ruthless. they were driven. they were perfect.

there should have only been one cube. they should never had a queen. the lack of character development was what defined the borg.

I have to agree. Maybe more than one cube, but they should have all been the same.

I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

In the original script, the battle at the beginning was much larger. Initially, there were supposed to be 47 cubes heading towards Earth. The battle scenes would center around the upgraded Federation forces curbstomping the ever-loving shit out of the Borg (I believe one CGI shot called for a single alpha strike from a Federation ship blowing apart a cube), and the Enterprise being called in to demolish a single cube that slipped past the battle lines, as it was the fastest ship.

It would've made more tactical sense on the Borg's part, but it probably would have screwed with DS9's continuity (after all, if the Federation fleet can assfuck a Borg fleet, why does it have so many problems with the Dominion?).

That would've been cooler, my friends and I (not any of us Trekkies, mind you) kept saying, "Wow...awesome military you have there...ENTIRE FEDERATION"

TNG-DS9 Starfleet as a military organization is a huge joke in sci-fi nerd circles. It's painfully clear that the writers have no idea or interest in writing even a remotely plausible military--all that matters is the technobabble and milking the Trek cash cow until it starts squirting dust.
